We have visited Costa Rica on two separate occasions, and this place is by far the favorite place that we stayed in. It is a peaceful paradise! We loved sitting on the balcony watching the birds and animals coming through (while we were on the property we saw toucans (daily), capuchin monkeys (daily), hummingbirds (daily), woodpeckers (daily), wild turkeys (daily), agoutis (daily), spider monkeys, coatis and heard howler monkeys (daily). There are great trails that run along the coast, leading to some beautiful, peaceful and isolated beaches. On these trails we saw sloths, lots of monkeys, snakes, iguanas, basilisk lizards, scarlet macaws and lots of other birdlife. The beach is a 5-10 minute walk downhill and is a great place to watch the sunset! The apartments are basic but had everything we needed. Guillermo is absolutely fantastic - nothing is too much trouble. He organizes everything (all transfers / lifts back from drake bay / trips to corcovado national park / snorkelling), communicates really well and is incredibly patient, kind and thoughtful. His family are also incredibly nice. I visited Sunset Tucano Lodge with my mum and partner and we're all in agreement about how fantastic this place is. We strongly recommend this place if you want to get away from it all and enjoy Costa Rica's fantastic nature!

We loved everything about the Natural Drake Bay Hotel! The hotel is newly renovated and run by the most amazing local family, who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The room, facilities, and food were top-notch. We've been to Costa Rica several times, and this place is, by far, one of our favorites. We saw almost as much wildlife on the hotel grounds as we did during our tour of Corcovado!

Beautiful oasis in the jungle. The Casitas were amazing with a jungle view from the balcony and open shower (with hot water too)!! It was very clean and comfortable. The family that runs it were very sweet and fun. Having breakfast and dinner right on the property was an added bonus. The food was very tasty. Would definitely stay here again.

Our family just wrapped up a 3 night stay at Hidden Paradise lodge and it was a dream. Beautiful, authentic and just perfect for what we wanted as a family. The staff are so kind, attentive, helpful and true pura vida vibes. We loved every breakfast and dinner so much. The pool was fabulous! Mariela, Jorge and Ryan helped us organize our day trips and we were extremely pleased!! We will be back!

It was clean, the staff was friendly, the room was private, and the hammocks on our private porch were so relaxing. Happy hour at the pool was a great way to finish a busy day of hiking. The pool was always fairly quiet because there are not a ton of rooms at the location.

It's hard to describe the beauty of the Osa and the Aguila de Osa is in an ideal location to experience it. Falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle is so amazing. The Drake Bay public trail is right there and it offers 3 hours of some of the most beautiful trails that we have ever walked. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful too.

    Central location, comfortable room.

    Central location, comfortable room. The pool was really lovely to sit near and relax, cool off. Staff was exceptional and helpful in all manners. Receptionist helped me book all of my activities and was super accommodating. The restaurant staff were so friendly, and even remembered my name after I came a few times. Very convenient to have on site. It had everything I coud want and price was reasonable. I already want to go back and will book there again.

    It was very remote.

    It was very remote. We spent three nights there and enjoyed early active mornings and chill afternoons with an early dinner and bedtimes. There's not much to do at night which was fine by us. We loved watching the town wake up in the morning. We went diving at Cano Island and loved the turtles and all of the varieties of fish. The water was so clear when we went, it was one of the better diving experiences in Costa Rica so far!

    Fantastic stay.

    Fantastic stay. Exactly as described except wifi didn't work in our room, we had to go to the office/breakfast area to use it. The views from the room were spectacular overlooking Drake Bay. We had daily visits from capuchins, macaws, parrots, hummingbirds, etc The beds were comfortable as were the chairs and hammocks on the porch. Handrails going up the steep tire steps to the room would have been helpful. The owner went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was delicious and made to order.

    Great place to stay if you want to visit Corcovado national...

    Great place to stay if you want to visit Corcovado national park. Not only Corcovado is worthwhile but Drake Bay itself as well. I would recommend taking the boat from Sierpe to Drake Bay as it’s very convenient and the boat ride is extremely scenic!

    Very nice peaceful place, at the grounds of a friendly costarican family, right on the edge of the rainforest. Beautiful Ganadito beach is at walking distance. The cabin where we slept was new and fine.

    The flora and fauna of adjacent parks is amazing but you...

    The flora and fauna of adjacent parks is amazing but you must visit them with a guide for the appropriate access and to really appreciate what is there. Drake is a the ideal place from which to reach the parks. We travelled to Drake Bay by intercity bus from San Jose and connected with the ferry. The "wet landing" was a first for us - a genuine adventure where the ferry assistants wade your luggage to shore on their shoulders and the passengers just focus on getting themselves to shore. The ferry takes an hour or so through amazing mangroves. Make sure to tell your hotel to book you on the ferry to avoid misunderstanding -- there are only two ferries per day and you don't want to lose a day/night in Sierpe. The park is amazing --book a tour well in advance as daily entries are limited. Access to the park is by boat. Birds galore, several species of monkey including the mighty howler, tapirs, two species of ant eater, and many more creatures. We did the snorkeling tour too which was also amazing. We saw deep sea turtles, sharks, manta rays and a plethora of species of fish. Beautiful, pristine and rules about not interrupting wildlife. For example, we were watching a turtle and she started to rise for air and we all had to move back 4-6 metres and we had the joy of then watching her float on the surface for a while and just rock in the waves.     Helpfull staff, and nice room. With great bathroom, good beds and airconditioning (very nice at Osa Peninsula). Hotel is located just outside the "village" of Drake Bay, but has supermarket just down the street. The hotel is located next to a (muddy) creek flowing towards the ocean. Spotted a jesus-christ-lizzard running across the surface. At night there was a huge concert of nocturnal animals, especially frogs.

    Beautiful hotel with fantastic food. Lovely staff we felt really pampered. Hotel has its own beach with suspension walkway. So much wildlife amazing views across bay from restaurant area. Organised a trip to national park accessed by speedboat a night tour and a snorkelling trip. Seemed expensive when booked but definitely worth it we would stay again one of nicest hotels in Costa Rica.

    The location in Drake is really good, as its on a steep hill and Casa Jade is not far from the beach. There are also lots of nice cafés and restaurants around. The room is good, with a large comfortable bed and a bunkbed. The room has airco and a fridge and coffee/tea maker, and a nice little patio with view of Drake to drink a beer in the afternoon!
