We loved our free walking tour in the first morning. This gave a good sense of the city and was great for families. Going to the dome was brilliant - wonderful architecture and free view of the city. We visited the Bradenburg Gate in the evening so it was all lit up and there was a musician playing violin which really added to the ambiance. Worth a visit as very impressive. The TV Tower was quite expensive (about 90 Euros for 3 of us) but it did have great views across Berlin and you could even spot Tropical Islands Resort in the distance. The train system is really easy to use, although the ticket machine was not very clear to me and I ended up overpaying for one journey. There are no barriers though which was odd - you just walk on and off after validating your ticket at a machine that stamps the time on the ticket. We visited Tropical Islands Resort which was easy to get to on the train and then the free shuttle bus. It was an expensive day though so be prepared!
