This guest house is located within the historic walls of Kloster Weltenburg, the oldest monastery in Bavaria. It lies in the Weltenburger Enge conservation area, near the romantic River Danube. Food was fabulous! Beer garden in courtyard. Whole atmosphere was wonderful and it was very peaceful after all the tourists left and we had the space to ourselves to explore without crowds!

there is nothing really special to have done in Kelheim - walking tours, cycle tours, Danube river. It's just a nice village 5 km away from the nearest railway staition. So if one goes there, one obviously knows why and what for:)
Great area for taking long walks to the kloster for a great meal and excellent beer. The food at the brewery in Kelheim was also excellent and the atmosphere in the garden was very relaxing. The walk along the canal was beautiful and there were enough places along the way to get a meal or cold drinks.
Kelheim is a pleasant town with the opportunities for trips on the Danube, particularly to the beautiful Weltenburg Abbey. The Befreihungshalle (Liberation Hall) high on a hill above the town is also worth visiting. It was also a convenient place to break our journey from Baden-Baden to Passau.
Small vilage, nice, but nothing to see there, we choose is it since it is close to the highway to Regensburg and did not want to go to Regensburg it self. Also wanted to see the normal piece of life in Germany.
A nice, clean town centre and close to the wonderful Danube with walking, cycling and running opportunities as well as boat trips. Book a tour on a Thursday or Friday at the Schneider Weisse brewery, the oldest private brewer of wheat beers. You can also eat / drink at their Weisses Brauhaus next to the brewery.
