Couldn’t have asked for a better located stay. Nestled right in the arms of ice capped mountains, the apartment was great, well furnished, equipped and safe. I had lovely parking, lovely food no more than 10 minutes away, and the mountains within eyesight and driving distance. The host was responsive and extremely well informed of the area.

the place was very cozy. Inside the flat, there’s a window where you will see the mountain, which is so beautiful in the morning. The property owner is also very friendly and accommodative. The balcony was perfect for chilling after a long day od hike.

Wonderful old Bavarian town.
Wonderful old Bavarian town. People here are very friendly to tourists. I speak some German but most pick up on my USA origin quickly to help communications. Rented a car and I recommend that to travelers as this is a big chunk of real-estate. Navigating with iPhone maps is incredibly easy.

Oberau is a small town located conveniently at a cross-roads for sightseeing. Garmish is about 7 minutes by car in one direction, and Crazy Ludwig's castles and Oberammergau is located in the other direction. We were there in the winter, but before its ski slopes had opened, so it was kind of quiet with not much going on. Apparently in the summer there is a nice bier garten, but it was closed while we were there in December. We ate at Oberauer-Alm, which is good traditional German food, but with no options for vegetarians.United States of America

It was a 15 minute drive over (although warning it's not flat terrain, be prepared for switchbacks around the mountain).
