Caldas de Reis is a regular stop-over on the Camino Portuguese. The main square with palm trees is lovely. There are cafes and you can sit there have coffee and enjoy, I only made a one night stop so can't really say much more.
We only stayed in Caldas de Reis as we were walking the Camino Portugese. We saw lots of things that'd been nice to further explore if we'd had a couple of days there....river, historic buildings etc.
it is a very quaint little town but the staff in 2 of the bars we went to were very rude. We left the first without ordering food because we found them so rude. In the second one the waiter was agressive. We did find a cafe beside the bridge with good breakfast and really friendly staff.
This is a small, charming property, located next to a river, among trees and close to a roman bridge. The property has been recently overhauled and is incredibly comfortable and friendly. Great location for walking. Staff at the hotel is very friendly and attentive. Prices are very accessible. This is worth a trip!
There was a lovely feel/atmosphere about Caldas de Reis. We had mass in the square at St Tomas Church at 8pm on sunday night. Then a pizza with the locals across from the church which was very cheap. On monday morning there was a small market in the town and everyone was so friendly. Really nice place to stay
Nice small town with plenty of shops, restaurants, and historical places to visit. Unfortunately, I was not able to soak myself in the thermal baths due to the open blisters on my feet. A good stop on the Caminho Português.
We choose this hotel because of the pool. We were walking the Camino Portuguese and thought this would be a good place for a rest day. The hotel was a bit further then we would have liked and while clean accommodations and food breakfast the beds were the least comfortable on our pilgrimage. Also Caldas de Reis was very small. We ended up not resting and walking the next day to Padron and taking a cab back and forth to where we stopped at.
Very solid 2-3 star hotel. Small but very clean single room. Nice bathroom. Room was on top floor, no window per se but an opening skylight. Was quite warm but cooled off quickly after dusk. Location cannot be beat and the hotel is also a spa with a very charming "earlier age" tiled spa area. I didn't take advantage of the thermal water bath but wish I had. All in all a solid, "will stay here again" hotel.
Caldas de Reis
Very clean room, with towels which is always a bonus! Enough space to store your luggage and offered a window to let the fresh air in. Very clean and the kitchenette was perfect to make breakfast and store some food. there are two full bathrooms that can be used which helped! Elevator was great. Amazing location to explore Caldas de Reis and close to all the main attractions for the Camino de Santiago.
Resort type hotel. We had a wonderful room with a large patio overlooking the grounds, pool area in short distance and river. Pool was wonderful way to relax for a couple days. A respite on our Camino walk. Nice breakfast buffet.
Caldas de Reis
we were actually put in the hotel so the hotel room was smaller than the pictures of the room that I thought I had booked. but it was a good and quiet room. nice beds and good bathroom and coffee in the room
Great room with balcony, quiet and comfortable. Hotel right on pilgrim trail, they were happy to let us into our room early. Restaurant downstairs was excellent. Nicely renovated
