Hotel Duque de Najera, Playa de la Luz, and Hotel La Parrita got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Rota.
Loved the laid back atmosphere of Rota and the sunny warm weather. We walked everywhere and did not rent a car because of parking issues. Next trip I will rent an apt on the beach instead of a 10-15 min walk.
Difficult to find this apartment on all of the one way streets. Parking was extremely difficult as we could not get close to the apartment The hosts were very late to meet us to give us the keys. The apartment is very dated compared to the photographs and was not comfortable. Very noisy at nights with kids hanging out in the laneway late. A noisy one way (rat run) road at front of apartment with strictly no parking, not even close by. One bathroom only and it's a small one person bathroom. Small kitchen, quite dated. The beds were not comfortable. We left after three nights into our seven night stay and the host very casual about that.
Nice town for a beach holiday. The town itself has a lot to offer in terms of food, drink, atmosphere, beaches... but there are also very interesting places around worth visiting: Doñana if you like birdwatching, Cadiz capital (take the catamaran from Rota to get there, don’t drive!), Puerto de Santamaria (nice castle), wineries....
Beautiful old town, lots of history. Particularly enjoyed the catamaran trip over to Cadiz. The sunsets were breathtaking. Lots of bars and restaurants around the old town. The locals were friendly, helpful and authentic. We felt very safe in the area and due to the current COVID situation, noticed that every rule was adhered to, especially in bars, restaurants and public area.
Had a couple of days in Rota and would have liked longer. Small town, not too touristy with lots of cafes, bars and shops. We were there for carnival which was very local eg young kids doing flamenco and small groups singing funny songs - great atmosphere
I have kept my boat in Rota marina for 6 years. It is a charming and welcoming town with a superb beach. There are several pretty plazas and many excellent restaurants. I have been there at all times of the year and always had an enjoyable visit. It is also possible to visit Cadiz by catamaran ferry from Rota. This provides an excellent day trip for both the sights and the shops. Children love the boat trip.
