These glass igloos are located on the Arctic Circle, 30 minutes’ drive from central Rovaniemi. Each offers heated floors and thermal-glass roofs with a view to the sky. We stayed in an igloo which I would absolutely recommend. They are warm, cozy, clean, modern and the glass roof is just beautiful. Using your igloo as a base, you can wander around the ice hotel pretty much at will and take in the extraordinary beauty of the rooms, have a drink in the ice bar or like us, have a meal in the ice restaurant. You need to dress up warm as the ice hotel is, well, made of ice. It is cold. Speaking to guests who stayed in the hotel there was a common feeling that one night is enough in there and it is more for the experience than for comfort. The private sauna with jacuzzi and additional snow sauna is fantastic, especially if taken in the evening. The food in the main restaurant was fantastic, especially, as others have mentioned, the salmon. The food in the ice hotel was pretty good too. Breakfast was typical fare and we had no complaints there. The staff arranged a husky tour for us which was great and there are other activities you can do that we sadly did not have time for such as snow scooter trips, ice fishing and snow shoe treks. We drove up from Olso in an electric car and although the staff are not familiar with electric vehicles we found that if you have an adaptor to use a standard European plug, you can charge your car over night using the engine heaters in the car park. We were glad we had the car as it allowed us a little more freedom. There is not much around the snow hotel but the car allowed us to visit Rovaniemi which is a beautiful city to visit. The staff in the bars and restaurants are all very open and a pleasure to have around making sure we enjoy our trip. In short, this was a trip we will never forget and hope to do again some day.
Yurt with a river view is located in Tapio. Free WiFi is offered. The heated yurts have a roof dome and if lucky, you can see northern lights through it. The tented camp offers a barbecue. Very nice location. Its quiet, the yurt is cosy and the staff is very nice and helpfull! Thank you Gigi :) And, the atmospere in the wimter season at night is breathtaking!
Very beautiful but without a car there really isn't much to do other than very expensive activities. The resort it's self has very limited and very expensive resturants. I wouldnt have wanted to stay any longer than a few days.
Very nice and comfortable place with good food, clean rooms and nice stuff
Great hotels / good breakfast
