We went early to avoid the parking spaces getting full . Nice to do the touristy train ride . It gave us very interesting historical facts . Nice eateries around the beautiful square . We were here overnight waiting for our barge and bike ride over the next week to Avignon. We were really surprised at the walled city and took a tour of the ramparts. Amazing structure. Stunning historical city , very accessible , loads to see and do. The ramparts walking tour is excellent with audio guide you can do at your leisure with loads of interesting towers to visit each one has a different media communication of the history of Aigues Mortes. We stayed at Villa Mazarin , highly recommended. Beautiful building inside the walls with its own history . staff super pleasant and helpful . Rooms beautifully appointed looking onto the courtyard garden. Only minus was no complimentary drinking water left in the bedroom. Aigues Mortes is the most beautiful walled town set on the edge of the Camargue salt pans. The town is lively day and night with a great choice of restaurants and bars and there are some lovely shops to browse in. Just strolling down all the little streets is delightful. The owner seems to feel that her inability to follow through...
The owner seems to feel that her inability to follow through on allowing us to use the pool after the early check out was offset by they’re keeping our luggage until 4 o’clock. I understand it’s a family run hotel and maybe they don’t understand that all hotels offer the service of keeping your luggage until you can come back to claimant for your onward journey she accused us of coming by train and not by bike we never did say that we were coming by bike. We gave her our train arrival time and we arrived on time. We were joining a bike tour that was close to the hotel. She told us we could use the pool and then reneged on that offer. It was very disappointing. Very difficult to make her understand that I guess it’s a language barrier.Guest review byDeborah
