7 Days is too long, the restaurants in the old town close after lunchtime service until the evening and they don’t serve food until 7pm. At lunchtime we couldn’t get a table to have a drink unless we were having food. We were lucky we were staying above the Brasserie des Européens and they continue to serve drinks all afternoon. The 'Old Town' is why most people go there however two 80 + fit pensioners doing over 12k (each) steps was very enjoyable if somewhat tiring. Plenty of places to eat, rather too many outlets selling 'the usual tripper' 'Tat' - But that has to be expected in this day and age - you don't HAVE to buy it ! A lovely town, east to navigate. Beautiful lake. Plenty cafes, shops and restaurants. The lake and surrounding mountains are just wonderful. Annecy is very beautiful - but a lot of people know that!
Annecy is very beautiful - but a lot of people know that! So it was immensely busy around the area where our hotel was, which is where the town meets the lake. I would not go again in high season. In my top 5 destinations to visit. Annecy old town is full of history, incredible buildings and so many great restauarants and bars to visit and not too expensive. Amazing scenery around the lake and mountains. Great for those who like the outdoors, lots of cycling, walking and hiking. There is a dedicated cycle route around the the outside of the lake around 50km which is amazing and a must do and you don't have to be a 'cyclist' to do it.Guest review byAnonymousUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The old town of Annecy was lovely.
The old town of Annecy was lovely. Lots of restaurants and shops in a medieval setting. I would give the Palais de l'Ile a pass. Most of the info is in French which I am not fluent in and the English translation is minimal. The Musee-Chateau d'Annecy had a little more English translation of the displays. I asked a question of one of the museum workers and received an informative response so don't be shy to ask! We rented bikes and rode around the lake. We went a little too far before realizing we had missed a turn at Doussard; it took us almost 4 hours to complete the entire route.Guest review byCarolineCanada

It also offers a very significant parking discount at the nearby Hotel de Ville. The hotel staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms provide many comforts including a refrigerator, great beds and bedding, closet space, lockbox, even an ironing board and iron. Breakfast is ample and fresh. Apartment is on 3 levels, and is accessed by its own private lift, and has A/C, bath, shower and sauna and 2 toilets. Fantastic host provided lots of info before arrival, very easy checkin and out, and available for any questions.
