Colourful by Day and Night
Known for colourful nightlife and traditional English seaside pursuits, Brighton and neighbour Hove are the closest beach resorts to London, making them popular end points for classic car runs from the capital. Many end at the racecourse, a few streets from Brighton Marina, Europe’s largest, housing several shops and eateries. Many Brighton guest houses on Booking.com are also nearby.
Running along the beachfront is the world’s oldest operating electric railway, ending by Brighton Pier. Lit up at night and also known as Palace Pier, this city icon houses amusements and rides, and is one place to pick up some famous Brighton Rock, the confectionery sharing its name with an edgy Graham Greene novel set here.
A new addition, the Brighton Wheel is right by the pier, while one of its most famous attractions is the Royal Pavilion, a former royal retreat built in Indian style.
Just west are 2 of the most popular Brighton shopping spots – Churchill Square shopping centre and The Lanes with its narrow streets and unusual shops. This area also has several Brighton hotels with parking, and the Artists Quarter, a series of ex-fishing huts that are now galleries. The arts are a big thing here and Brighton Festival is the UK’s 2nd largest arts festival, while Brighton Pride is also a big event on the annual calendar.

I love Brighton and have visited it many times over the...
I love Brighton and have visited it many times over the years, but don't know Hove at all and haven't spent much time in Brighton in recent years until last week.
The Brighton Pavilion is a must see with its vibrant Japanese decor, and the gardens are beautiful. The Dome is a great place to see a show or band, as is the Brighton Centre. There are other theatres around but they are the two I've experienced in the past. There's a good music and club scene in Brighton.
The seafront prom is a must for a refreshing walk, and the Sea Life Centre remains an attraction, not that I've been there for many years. The last time I was on the Pier was also years ago, but it was always worth a visit and probably still is.
The main Churchill Square shopping centre is a little tired but I love the North Laines where there are loads of small, independent shops. The Lanes is also lovely to meander around, but the shops are more elite with matching price tags.
If you're eating out, there are loads of cafes and restaurants to choose from. I had a lovely pulled beef in ciabatta dinner in Kindling Restaurant on East Street prior to an event upstairs in the East Street Tap pub, which almost looks like time has stood still for centuries!
Parking is a challenge and expensive in Brighton, so I recommend booking in advance.

Great nightlife.
Had the best night at Affinity bar, drag Queen Loveinia was Absolutely Fantastic!!! Most of us couldn't breathe from laughing so much and what an amazing voice 🥰
😬 way too many beggers and drug addicts.
Felt like the pride in the appearance away from the main attraction areas was non existent.

Hove is a pleasant seaside town.
Hove is a pleasant seaside town. There is currently considerable restructuring along the sea front and the waterfront will look very different in a few years. There anre ample coffee shops and good facilities for families with children. The bus service is excellent, buses run regularly and are inexpensive.

Brighton is a very fun and interesting city.
Brighton is a very fun and interesting city. Lots of quirky streets with open
markets and fun things to do. The Royal Pavilion is a must to see.
The Brighton Pier is also a must but other than a couple of restaurants most things on the pier close by mid September.

I wanted to experience the pebble beach, we stayed 2 nights...
I wanted to experience the pebble beach, we stayed 2 nights and couldn't wait to get away. To be honest it was overcrowded, traffic was a nightmare, everything overpriced and not somewhere for us but that's the travel experience :-). If you like loads of people everywhere, waiting in traffic and being "seen" you will probably love it ;-)

Loads of lovely jewellers.
Some excellent bars (ones that aren't trying to be clubs with loud music): Twisted Lime and Clementine & Co both had great drinks, large menus, friendly staff and were around £8-15 a drink.
Plenty of food choices: many options for vegetarians/ vegans! Pricing was reflective of both the quality and the area every time.
Minimal arcades. Definitely recommend more than one day to visit.

Hotel is in a fantastic location, a very short walk to the beach. Brighton centre is also walkable albeit quite a lengthy walk.
Hotel decor is a little outdated but rooms comfortable and well sized.
Parking is very tight if you are in the rear car park, may not be suitable for very large cars - but it is free if there are spaces!
Breakfast was average at best - overcooked fried eggs and very watery mushrooms. Continental options were OK.

Location was amazing, you practically step out onto the beach and there were plenty of car parks nearby. The bed sheets were clean and the bed itself was very comfortable after a long day exploring Brighton seafront. The showers were hot and there were three of them, though one wasn't working at the time. We loved having the table for boardgames and the lounging space. Having the balcony to cool off was a boon too!

Down to earth host, left to get on with our trip. Room was lovely with comfortable bed best night sleep I’ve had. Really loved the room me and my boyfriend really enjoyed our trip and this hotel was amazing within distance of the beach/seafront and from there it was easy to get into the town or to nearby shops. Definitely will be coming back and booking a different room.
