We have visited (and stayed) many times as it is not too far from us. The town itself is delightful. A high street on a slight hill, free parking off the main road, over a cute little bridge over a stream.
The buildings and shops are beautiful, some shops for everyday things and the kind you associate with the Cotswolds town. Plentiful places to eat and drink.
On the A40 just before the turning is the Burford Garden Centre which is a lovely place to visit, if a little expensive. Lovely restaurant there too.
Not too far away is the Cotswold Wildlife Park which is great for people with children even quite small as it isn't too vast. Well worth a visit.
As with other iconic towns, it can get crowded in summer months but all are delightful anytime of year, especially on a sunny, if cold, day.

Burford is a Cotswold town with many shops, a bit overwhelmed by tourism and too many daytime cars (the river bridge has one lane and causes traffic jams), Lovely walks along the river. Best to head out of the town for interesting and nice pub dinners. Close to the (much overlooked) Rollright Stones which are as interesting as Stonehenge and one can still walk amidst the stones.
We stayed at the Baytree: lovely building, but the chef's menu left us dismayed.: uninspired and ok for one dinner, not more.

Burford Golf Club is very close, as is the Cotswolds Wildlife Park. Both recommended.

Burford is a great place to visit.
Burford is a great place to visit. The shops are individual and interesting and it is one of the best places for pubs with open fires in winter. It is a very attractive place with many interesting buildings. A short distance away is a wonderful garden centre.
We ate one night at the Highway Inn where we were staying and the next night at the Lamb. Good meals in both.

So much to see and explore.
So much to see and explore.
Fabulous small independent shops, a bustling high street & popular garden centre brimming with Arts/Clothes/sculptured plants/Children shop/Meanswear-Book lounge & large healthy cafe.
(Can get very busy)
The Hound Cottage in Burford is an exceptional period cottage, situated only a few steps away from the centre of the village. We had a brief conversation with the hosts prior to our arrival and all our questions were answered. As you would expect with a period cottage the ceilings, especially in the bathroom, are quite low so keep that in mind when booking this beautiful cottage. Burford is a perfect base to explore the Cotswolds with its stunning nature, excellent pubs and restaurants and many sights nearby.
We visited Burford for a wedding at a nearby Hotel, The Golden Pheasant was perfect for what we needed for one a night stay in the area. Twin room was plenty big enough and the bathroom and shower were a great size. Staff were friendly and helpful on check in/ check out. Cooked and continental breakfast was included in our room rate and was great value for money. Nice selection of both.
Staff were friendly and welcoming upon arrival, during the stay and our departure.
We had breakfast on the two mornings and the quality and standard was exceptional.
The stay was very quiet though for those overlooking the rear courtyard and the beds were comfortable
Location of the Hotel for Burford is exceptional, also great access to the bus to Witney.
The location of the Lamb is excellent, short walk to the centre of Burford. A quiet and pleasant road, parking at the next door hotel. The breakfast was good, the hotel is in a very old and traditional building, comfortable room and good public rooms.
Very Comfortable and friendly hotel. Lovely to stay in Burford. Loved the log fire .Very good food. Lots of breakfast choices and was very tasty. Really enjoyed the dinner we had too . Felt safe in these present times.Would stay again.,
