Not much going for Coltishall other than the Rising Sun on the river for breakfast. Were it not for the fact that the place we stayed in Coltishall was the only affordable place available for our dates of availability, we would not have stayed in Coltishall for our trip to the Broads; and we are unlikely to stay there again.

Coltishall is well placed for a stay in the Broads area it is a pretty village well kept with good facilities and many pubs with restaurants, though I would rate The Rising Sun probably our choice. Access from here is good for the coast and the broads generally.

Bike path next to the narrow guage railway. Path next to the river and at least 3 lovely pubs serving nice food with outside tables.The village though very busy with traffic had grocery shop and take aways. Situated 10 miles north of Norwich and 15 miles south of Cromer, it was in a good position for visiting- in a car- broads, seaside towns, wildlife centres, and points of interest for families. For cyclists, do your research on bike paths and offroad paths before you go. If we had more time we would have tried the standing canoes, and had a boat trip on the broads.

Lovely pubs and pretty surroundings. We ate in the King’s Head which serves delicious food and found us a table on spec. Enjoyable walk in the evening including river views. Shops shut quite early - even the local garage !!

The area was nice, everyone very friendly, cosy , homely feel to it, the only downside for me was that after our evening out and returning to the B and B at 9.20pm the only shop there had closed so nowhere to buy anything you might need, other than that lovely area

Went for a long week-end for a surprise Fortieth birthday. Stayed at the Bridge House B & B located near the Jet station. Got down on a Friday afternoon and had a lovely Thai meal at the Red Lion in the evening. The party was held at the Rising Sun again in Coltishall during Saturday and we couldn't have been treated or fed better. The Inn is located right on the river bank with boat moorings and some good river walks. Finally Sunday evening we dined at the Recruiting Sergeant a sister inn to the Rising Sun and again were not disappointed . Coltishall is a great place for discovering the villages and towns in the area and you will not meet friendlier people.
