Found the people very friendly and accommodating. Great market and the places we ate were excellent especially the Thai restaurant above the Salutation Inn. Park the car and use public transport as the buses run very frequently failing that plenty of taxis available. Saturday night appears to be party night so make sure you have a booking if your eating out.
It is a town on-the -up, and is going to be terrific when all the civic improvement things have been finished. But already it is a nice town, and the people are remarkably friendly, wherever I went I got into conversations with people. Refreshing.
A lovely town with lots of shops, cafes and other interests. Great travel links we went to Sheffield and Bridlington on the train. The market is not as big at the moment as it is being renovated, will fully open spring 2019. The fish and fruit market are well worth a visit.
This hotel was perfect for our needs. We had an early flight out of Docaster & the hotel was ideally located & excellently sound proofed. The staff were very friendly & helpful & the restaurant food was both good & great value for money. We would definitely stay there again.
I lived in Doncaster a long time and was attending for Medical reasons. Doncaster is like anywhere else there are good and bad areas. Town for food and night life is great and everything is close together.
Doncaster Racecourse is a good day out, especially when they have a band on in the evening. The Yorkshire Wildlife Park is a brilliant day out for families. There are some good eateries in the centre, Relish, the Market Deli and Woods Tea rooms. Unfortunately the High Street, like many other towns, has declined in recent years. The Frenchgate Centre offers all the usual shops. The fish and meat market is excellent as are the outside veg stalls.
The whole hotel was clean and well kept, beautifully decorated through the whole building, car park to the rear with ample parking spaces. Ron was on hand to show us how to work the key cards for the room, gain entry to the hotel and how to work the coffee machine at breakfast. Great location 10minutes walk to town centre or just hop on a bus as bus stops straight outside the hotel.
It was a basic clean and comfortable room, tv, tea/coffee with take away cups. Chalet style hotel block. Bath and shower, hot water on tap. Slept very comfortably. We didn't stay for breakfast but it smelt tempting as we were leaving. Staff were lovely and helpful on arrival. Hotel was 15 min walk from Doncaster racecourse.
Top Notch . So comfortable . 5 minutes walk from town centre My kind of style with furnishings That's why I love this place over a hotel any day . I'll have to stay longer next time .
The hotel room is very well insulated. It overlooked one of the busiest roundabouts in Doncaster and you couldn’t hear a thing. Great nights sleep, fab breakfast.
The property was in a great location in Doncaster, not too far from the town and the race course . Bed was very comfy very cosy room but just right for us

🇮🇪We travelled from Ireland😀Friendly helpful staff.warm comfortable hotel with character.inviting drinks bar😀generous breakfast..my daughter loved the pancakes with fruit! Husband enjoyed full English and great (for me)that the hotel caters for vegetarians😀ideal for families (we travelled with a three year old and a cot was provided) and great for racing enthusiasts as The Grand St Leger is just across the road from Doncaster race course.the hallways are decorated with historical photos of racing at Doncaster and the hotel itself in the last century. Old stables at the back are a reminder of the hotels place in the history of horse racing at Doncaster.would definitely recommend this hotel.
The spa area was lovely with sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and pool! We had a massage in the spa it was very relaxing. We stayed for 2 nights and stayed for evening meal on the first night and they catered for my requests also for breakfast it was no trouble for the chef to make me some poached eggs... nice relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings
Everything was perfect (at least for me and for my budget). The receptionist was the most kind soul, my room was quiet, safe, clean and it had tea, coffee and decaf.
All the staff were friendly and helpful, and nice breakfast service. Couldn't fault anything, and will be using again.
