Llantwit Major has a lot of history. It was included on a radio four travel programme some years ago. We ate at the Vesuvius Italian restaurant excellent value. There are good beaches I.e Ogmore beach and Barry just down the road past the airport. Brecon Beacon are not far away.
Llantwit is a small town with an abundance of watering and dining options that will suit all tastes. A couple of well equipped supermarkets, chemist, trains to Cardiff. The old town is very special and a treat to wander around its narrow roads and explore its nooks and crannies. A couple of good sized free car parks near the train station. Very advisable to use these car parks whenever visiting the town as alternative parking in the narrow lanes is non existent. A couple of ATMs also on scene. Luvelly, often diserted beach, very close by.
Lovely coastal walks with spectacular cliffs. Walks well mapped and described in leaflets picked up in the hotel. Well signed too on marker posts. Some rather high stiles a bit tricky. Good choice of restaurants, would recommended Cwtch and Illtuds216. Friendly and helpful locals.
Historic and interesting town with many pubs and restaurants and situated in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan and close to the sea. The local church is well worth a visit as it has a medieval garden sited in a new extension.
Llantwit Major is definitely a town of two halves - the modern residential and the quaint historic 'Old Quarter'. The small town provides all the basic essentials such as small supermarkets, chemist and cafes! Plenty of parking. Take - Away meals abound. The 'Old Quarter' is amazing. Don't miss out on opportunities to explore the narrow, winding streets and historic buildings.
