The Sea Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western compromises of 34 en-suite bedrooms, an onsite restaurant and a bar. The location was perfect. 2mins walk to the beautiful beach and Ocean Road, full of a variety of eateries, was only 10mins walk. The staff were very polite and welcoming, especially our lovely Receptionist who went above and beyond. The room was clean and comfortable, perfect for our needs.

Boasting a bar, The Grotto is situated in South Shields in the Tyne and Wear region, 2.4 km from Sandhaven Beach and 3.7 km from Ocean Beach Pleasure Park. The bedroom was lovely comfy bed, quiet, warm ,fabulous restaurant food amazing. Friendly and welcoming . Staff loved their jobs which says alot to me. Brilliant
Less than 10 minutes’ walk from South Shields’ beach and Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, this 3-star guest house offers free Wi-Fi access. Owner was very friendly and helpfull even though he was by himself for our stay. The breakfasts were the best I have ever had. The location was perfect fo us with plenty of great restaurants, close to the beach front and not far from the metro in the town centre. There was plenty parking. Had a great 5 days, thank you.
Stick to the coast from Marsden Bay to The Groyne at the mouth of the Tyne and you will be highly impressed and rightly so. Venture inland and you will find yourself in the most non-descript and most easily forgettable town in England. I can only say this as someone born and bred there.
So much to see there. From the Roman fort to the wonderful sea front with it's promenade and fairground Loads of great restaurants in Shields too. .If you want to shop though, get the metro to Newcastle (about 30 minutes).
This is a small but wonderful place, 2 days of stay were not enough, as the location is so perfect and you can easily travel to the nearby cities/towns by metro. Of course, the coast and the beaches of South Shields are very picturesque and we made loads of pictures. The weather was changeable, but mostly sunny (but very windy, so do not be fooled :). There are plenty of various restaurants on the Ocean road, where we stayed also. Plus, a few good take away places (we used The Curry Center and can recommend - this is not an advert!). We drove in the car around the South Shields, but the buses would have worked also. Now I will highlight again, the metro station is very central and the Yellow line will take you to any place around for a fair price - 5.70 pounds for Day rider (again, would recommend getting this rather than 3.60 or 3.90 one way). As this is an open area, do not forget your sunglasses and some sturdy caps, as sometimes the sun can be blinding almost. But definitely enjoyable to get some vitamin D finally! Finally, if you are a fun of history, the Hadrian Wall (Roman times) starts very nearby and you can go see it, go visit the Segedunum museum in Wallsend (prob half a day trip, can use metro too).
I loved my staying! Very friendly owners, caring and helpful.Full English breakfast homemade pfovides enough energy to kast till evening. Exeptionally clean and cosy house, comfartable bed, snowwhite soft towels. Very pleased with my short break and happy to choose this particular place. Good location nesr sea shore.Highly recomended! Definetely would come again!
The people….. most friendly people on earth. The beaches and scenery are superb. Every area within easy distance( no need for a car) Metro and bus service top class. All staff helpful wherever you may go. So much to see and do in the area, can’t wait to come back😊 The variety of restaurants on Ocean Rd are legendary , the trees lit up with white lights at night make the street look magical, love it.
The North East is renowned for being friendly and the locals didn't disappoint as they were helpful and friendly. Great bars, clubs and eateries with an amazing choice of Indian restaurants and probably the best fish and chips I've ever had at Colman's. Fantastic beach and amusement park. Good base to visit Newcastle, Northumberland or Durham with their historic sites, Castles, Roman forts . Something for everyone. Get there when the weather is good and it's a delight.
The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and quiet. The owners are incredibly friendly and accommodating. I had a slightly late arrival due to a delayed train and missed connection, but they waited up for me. They also let me leave my luggage and had even washed and dried a pair of socks I had inadvertently left behind in the room when I returned! The breakfast is fantastic, with sizable portions. The location is within very easy walking distance to both the beaches of South Shields and the metro station for convenient access to Newcastle.
In all honesty, what is there to not like about this hotel?! I am so serious... both my wife and I were beyond impressed. The facilities are spectacular. The room was spectacular. The staff was spectacular. The view from our window was spectacular, overlooking the River Tyne and where it flows into the North Sea. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. It is so clearly obvious that they put a lot of time and effort into making this a very special and nice hotel. I truly cannot say enough good things about it.
Lovely property, clean and tidy, walking distance to supermarkets, pubs (nearest 5 mins).Restaurants (ocean road),more pubs and town centre, sea front and promenade(15 mins).Would recommend using metro transport link (station in town centre) if you’re wanting to to visit other places £5.40 for a day ticket.
Stayed for two nights with work as I usually stay in hotels. The flat was in a central location close to the city centre also near Ocean road restaurants. Clean and tidy with everything you need, with a great layout. Will be back when I am next in the area.
The room was stylish and clean, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was good and plentiful, the hotel was quiet, it was a good value and conveniently located a short walk from metro and beach. Lots of good restaurants on the street.
The staff were absolutely lovely. However the hotel is dated, it needs a good refresh and update. Can’t comment on the food as we never ate their. Location is great at the top of Ocean road, near the seafront and opposite the theme park.
Comfortable room. Excellent friendly host. Breakfast was an extra £5 but was very good and well worth it. I have stayed in a few b&b in South Shields, and this is the best yet. Will definitely return.
Welcome pack, Light and airy rooms, well appointed, comfy furniture. Great location to walk into South Shields and the many restaurants on offer.
Property was clean, spacious and exactly what we were looking for. Will definitely look at booking this again next time I am in South Shields.
