Did the job, cute wee room above a traditional Cumbrian pub. Great place to stay if you also want to enjoy some real ales and Cumbrian food. The staff were all lovely and it had good heating (not always the case in these parts). The breakfast the next day was tasty and served in front of a roaring fire.
Atop one of England’s most beautiful valleys, Woolpack Inn is a 20-minute drive from the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. It is surrounded by scenic hiking trails, and offers real ales and free Wi-Fi.

The owner and his staff were incredibly warm, friendly, attentive and professional. The pub has a delightful atmosphere with a wide menu and excellent real ales kept extremely well. The rib eye steak was one of the best I've ever tasted! My upgrade to a double room was very much appreciated and the room itself was very comfortable... and so lovely and warm. The location and the views of the surrounding fells are simply superb - even in the rain, but it is the Lake District!

Super welcoming, the staff on the Friday evening were more than accommodating and really nice to talk to.
The room was amazing and really cozy, absolutely immaculate.
The only thing I would say was on the Saturday morning we were asked to sit at an empty table for breakfast and were told it would be set up for us, when actually we had to keep asking for cutlery, napkins etc which made us feel naggy.
Nestled in the Eskdale Valley, Bower House Inn is 4 miles from the Cumbrian coast. This 17th century 3 star inn offers superb food in its restaurant and rooms with en suite bathrooms.

The food at this hotel is amazing. Hearty home cooked food which was great after a long day walking. The staff could not be anymore welcoming, nothing was a bother for them and they even made out dogs feel like family
The Eskdale is a purpose built YHA hostel set in its own extensive grounds. Ideally located to explore the Lake District, this affordable accommodation is nestled in a picturesque setting.

All round fab holiday, will be going back to see what it’s like in the summer months. We kayaked wast water, swam in the river, intended to climb scafell thought the weather hindered, ate at the wasdale head in, and had cosy nights in at wallowbarrow farm cottage.

Feels like it is off the tourist trail a hidden gem with the river Dudden to swim in, fantastic walks and Scafell within easy reach but what a stunning drive to get there and the pass very nearby too - use the local shop if you can but bring supplies too. All you will hear is birdsong, sheep and the river !!
