The Windsor Trooper is in an excellent location for a short stay in Windsor, easy walking distance from the train station and for getting around Windsor. Lovely clean room top floor room. The outside patio/garden area of the pub was right below our room but was lovely and quiet after 10pm when everyone has to leave the garden. Would definitely stay again.
Visit to the castle was very good. We enjoyed crossing the bridge and walking to Eton College. Lots of cafes and restaurants. We had snacks in the centre of the town , near the castle, and ate at our hotel. There were a lot of visitors in the town, but this was to be expected.
Disappointed that the Castle was Closed and the amount of building work spoilt the overall content of any photos taken. Some of the gift shops seemed a bit on the tacky side and most had the same stock but the prices are very very different on some items. The town itself was clean and tidy as was Eaton, plenty of places to choose from for meals.
Went with family to Windsor for Harry Potter and Lego Land visit Very Safe area in Windsor , lots to see Shops really nice and plenty of choices to eat Enzo Italian is a must for great food
The castle is the main drawcard onbviously. You can book online or in person. It pays to book ahead early and get the earliest entry time you can as during summer windsor gets very busy from arounf 11am. If you book onli e you have to check in and get paper tickets. Try to do this before you queue as there can be quite s delay. If you want to visit the tower or kitchen you need to buy a ticket inside the castle. Do this before you do anything else as they sell out quickly. Entry to the royal apartments and queen mary dollshouse are included in main tivket price .
Enjoyed every minute. I am 72 years old and found it demanding but doable. …many stairs ( lift available) . We spent 3 very enjoyable hours , extremely helpful staff..worth every penny. There were eating / drinking areas but , we thought they were a little expensive…take a bottle of water , a camera and a light heart ..you will LOVE IT ….very proud to be British!
The bed was probably the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The air-conditioning unit was very quiet but effective. The shower was good, controllable and powerful; and the lighting around the basin was good and there was a magnifying mirror for make-up etc. The hotel was in a brilliant location for the castle and restaurants. Although I personally prefer breakfast to order, the buffet wasn't bad. A good selection of food, but it still had that hanging around look to it.
A bit far for an airport hotel but we did see aircrew staying there. Busy as it's near Legoland and Windsor, but rooms were quiet. Saturday night was very busy in the restaurants but the staff worked hard. Excellent breakfast but we had to wait 30 minutes for the cooked food to be ready. If you're driving, don't pay at the machines but at reception. The fee is lower there.
Location was very good and close to the town centre, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful and gave good advice where to go for something to eat after our arrival. Later on when we returned to the hotel after having something to eat the staff were very helpful in organising for us to leave the car whilst we walked up to the castle on Monday.
The food was really good at the Carvery. A generous complimentary breakfast and dinner the night before was very reasonable. The bus to Windsor old town/castle was right outside the hotel and very convenient. We'd like to give a special shut out to Tina, the receptionist. She was extremely helpful and went beyond her duties to help us out!
The hotel is in an excellent location and only a couple of minutes away from Windsor Castle. It has immaculate grounds with lots of sitting areas. The rooms and facilities were spotlessly clean. The room was much bigger than standard rooms in many hotels. The toiletries in the room smelt divine!
the staff was friendly and very helpful! the room was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. there was a very nice selection of choices for breakfast every morning. this hotel has an excellent location to walk up to Windsor castle and along the River Thames.
Windsor
Fantastic location if you are visiting Windsor Castle. This is not a chain hotel, this is a gorgeous, charming B&B style "house" that is modern yet comfy. Husband and wife hosts very welcoming and nice. I would absolutely stay here again
Location was within walking distance of Windsor castle and the Horse Guards barracks. Resturants and shops close by, with a rail service into central London. Lots of activities close by, river cruises, Windsor Castle visit and the long walk.
hotel was well furnished and very nice staff but room was smaller than anticipated and hotel is a good 15 minute walk away from Windsor town centrre/castle and restaurants - good freshly cooked breakfast - evening meal very limited
Windsor
Loved the location. Hotel was fantastic ,Great staff 👍. Near so many restaurants cafes . The castle 10 min walk. Lovely river close. Staff very friendly and welcoming 😊. Very impressed with family room. And saw planes out the window!
The location is amazing. So close to everything Windsor has to offer. An easy enjoyable walk. Quiet location despite so central. My son liked the sofa bed and we found our bed comfortable. Very happy to have a washer and dryer too
lovely location for a trip to Windsor! room was clean and top notch facilities. one of the better ones amongst the other hotels near castle hotel Windsor. interior was beautiful and there was welcome drinks at the reception!
The hotel was in a great position. A short walk from the train station. With in easy reach of Windsor High Street and Windsor Castle. The complementary drink was a fantastic surprise.
Across the street from Windsor Castle with restaurants & shops all around. Good value & I’d compare it to a Hampton Inn in the US without a complimentary breakfast.
Windsor
Proximity to Windsor was good, accessibility to LHR good.
It's location near of Windsor Castle.
