I liked the sea - we were in October and the weather was perfect. We took a boat for self boating - no license is required and it was great. We had a very good sea experience, swimming, free diving (snorkel) and jumping from the boat... we could see a sea turtle and flying fishes... we mostly cooked our own food in the villa. The beach and the waters are not bad. Everything else unfortunately is: getting there, inadequate road signs and parking space, the village and the roads are a total mess. Very nice place, around 30 min drive to Heraklion and around 2 hours drive to Chania. Many good restaurants and 3 scuba dive centers, one directly on the beach. It is a good place to relax, although we did not liked the city beach there are a few nice beaches nearby and also a good place to explore the island - excepting the situation when you want to try the recommended beaches which are at the edges of Crete. As the dive to either Vai (palm tree beach) or to Elafonisi / Preveli / Balos is 3 hours or more, if you aim for these beaches it is better to use another location as base.Guest review byDanMTRomania
