Unfortunately the Green Bus Service was closed due to non payment of wages so was not able to visit villages on that service. The local city bus is still operating. An interesting island, quite large, very mountainous, but with excellent roads. Beaches are well-equipped, with gravel and sandy beaches in the southeast and southwest. The north is more rocky, but the sea and mountain landscapes are beautiful everywhere. Friendly people, reasonable prices, and simple, good food, in the Greek tradition. I liked Chios and enjoyed finding the history of the island. Very pleased with my accommodation at SeaView hotel. I travelled as National representative with a team of 10 people for the World Finswimming Championships and was able to point out to them the better and more reliable accommodation. Chios is a perfect place to relax. It would be helpful to have a car, but I managed a couple of great trips using the local (not very frequent) buses. This is the island my Mother's family was from many generations ago and so it was important for my son and I to visit. It was not what we expected, it was so much more. It was easy to move around and it was the perfect place to rest, recharge and reconnect with the ghosts of our ancestors as tourists were minimal because it is not a party island and nor should it be. It is a very well - kept secret but had everything we needed and more. Next time we will travel in the shoulder season rather than winter to enjoy the beaches and further explore the history and all the island has to offer.Guest review byLianneAustralia - 10.0

We should have stayed in Chios longer. The sea's are relatively clear and clean and there is so much history on this Ireland that more time would have been great. The airport is also near to most of the touristy places. Great and reasonably priced Food nice people, perfect climate and nice fresh sea air. The location of the house is great, you can reach the center in a few minutes by walking. We stayed for about 1 week. Everything is available in the house, brand new and spotlessly clean. When I come to Chios again I will definitely stay here without looking elsewhere. The owner is very nice, kind and helpful. He reached to us even before our holiday start.
