Helgrindur Guesthouse offers accommodation in Grundarfjordur. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a terrace. Each room is equipped with a free WiFi. The studio was fantastic. it contained a sleeping room, private bathroom, and a kitchenette. There was a shared balcony outside as well. The TV had no channels, but Netflix access was available which was great.

Grundarfjordur Hostel is located in Grundarfjordur village on Snæfellsness Peninsula. It offers free parking and individually decorated guest rooms with free WiFi access. We really liked the sofa room downstairs and the big kitchen. By mistake they put us together with another spanish person but that was wonderful because we made a new friend :)
This guesthouse is located in Grundarfjordur in Western Iceland and features free Wi-Fi access. Snæfellsjökull National Park is 38 km from the property. Some rooms offer sea or mountain views. Nice concept. The rooms in the house we were, where situated around a community kitchen, where everybody (5 rooms) could cook and have breakfast. Everything was very clean and had a great atmosphere.
Guesthouse 43 is situated in Grundarfjordur and features a garden. This property features both free WiFi and private parking free of charge. Cozy 3 bedroom guesthouse with exceptional facilities like a well-stocked kitchen, several lovely shower rooms and bathrooms and a spacious and comfortable living and dining room area. Very clean and great easy to find location in the center of town. Host is very responsive.
Very friendly settlement and city: small port, a few restaurants, church, mountains, waterfalls, as well as whale watching by boat. But the city has a soul - it's the inhabitants! When you get in touch with them, you find that life is simple, requiring only a few important decisions. Already Helgrindur Guesthouse and Mrs. Eva made an impression on us that we are the most important people in the world! We got everything we wanted, we were surprised by the large and well-equipped apartment and the attitude and response of Mrs. Eve. Already in the accommodation all the necessary information about the gastronomic offer in the city and some other necessary information: a visit to Mount Kirkjufell, which you see from the apartment, Church & Statue "Sýn", Waterfall. By no means do you miss the House of Food Bjargarsteinn restaurant. The owner and staff are only here to please you and your wishes to get to know the local food. Great place at a very reasonable price. The owner will also present you a very interesting story about the house, how it was moved to its current location, and will be happy to show you how it was used and what is happening in it today. Don’t miss out, Grundarfjörður is a resort of many little surprises!
It is perfectly situated if you are keen to see Kirkjufell and Kirkjufellsfoss in the best light. We stayed for two days and did see the "church hill" in mist, bathed in sun light, at sunset and sunrise. Grundarfjordur is 20 min drive from Olafsvic, a bigger town, and 30 min from Hellissandur, which is at the door step of Snaefellsjokull National Park. The best restaurant in town, Bjargarsteinn Mathus, was closed on Mon and Tues when we visited. We had dinner at Cafe 59, a hamburger joint. We also snacked on hot dogs at Maestro.
The only reason to stay overnight in Grundarfjordur is to eat at the Bjargarsteinn restaurant - great food, atmosphere and staff; highly recommended. Otherwise the accommodation options are poor and there are other far better places in the local area.
Nice little town. That is very walkable and peaceful. Not a lot of healthy restaurant options, but there is a market where you can buy food to prepare yourself. There is an excellent restuarant called Bjargarsteinn if you want to splurge. A pool in town or others a short drive away. I fell asleep so missed them, but two friends of mine were able to see the Northern Lights one of the evenings we were there.
We had little time. It was beautiful weather, and we did not manage horseback riding :( You can make treks to the mountains. The trip to the cave was great. Beautiful trip along the coast to the lighthouse.
Location is great for exploring the peninsula. A sleepy little town in an impressive location. We hiked up the mountain (family with teens), just south of the town and it was a wonderful daytrip full of nice surprises and wonderful views. I would have wanted to try out the local restaurants, but we were short on time.
Located on a remote road and overlooking the water, the Sudur-Bar Guesthouse is a comfortable place to stay in this part of Iceland. We had a room with a private bath and found it to be everything we needed. The bed was comfortable (though the pillows were mushy.) The bathroom was modern. The breakfast was good. The host was friendly and gracious. The WiFi was solid. We enjoyed our stay and, returning to this part of Iceland at a later time, we would stay here again.
Amazing location surrounded by a beautiful mountain landscape. The farmhouse has everything you could need. We liked how they had a picnic table out back to eat on. Plus it was really cool having nearby cows visit us next to our bedroom window at night and in the morning. The hosts were very nice and made sure we were taken care of. Thank you so much! We would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.
The guesthouse feels like a little cosy inn, and we got to meet other guests when making breakfast in the shared kitchen. The best things we like are (1) cleanliness and completeness of the small room, shower, sink, toilet and nice bed all included, and (2) a spectacular view of Kirkjufell, particularly at sunset. The little town Grundarfjordur is quaint. We had dinner at Cafe 59 two days in a row.
We liked everything about Bjarg Apartments and had a great stay here! The location on the Peninsula is great and Kirkjufell Mountain is nearby. The apartment is well equipped and really cosy and offers great views. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. During our stay (end of August 2020) some renovation work was going on but we did not experience any hinder in this respect.
Overall the stay was great. While the room was rather basic it was right in a good price point. The bathroom was adequate too. The really great thing is the cafe downstairs that serves a delicious, included breakfast. You can also order dinner there - I highly recommend it - the calzone and salad we had there was quite unexpectedly our favorite meal in Iceland.
A comfy design for a small cottage; everything you need from a coffee maker to hot shower. There are several cottages but you still have your privacy and peace. Wonderful view with the Kirkjufell mountain and perfect location for aurora watching. The owner Sebastian) - was so kind and came checking up on us. Perfect accomodation if you are staying in West Iceland.
The location is very close to the beautiful Kirkjufell mountain. The village is also very charming, so definitely go and have a walk around! As for the hostel, it was very comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen and cosy living room. The staff was great and helpful! Would definitely recommend this place if you’re exploring the Western Iceland.
Very good location if your are staying in Grundarfjordur. Rooms are very well equipped with small fridge and small cooking facility. The view from the room was spectacular with mount Kirkjufell and the see directly in front of us. We met one of the owner down stairs a very pleasant guy but otherwise no other staff.
An amazing place, excellent host, perfect location. I was here during the lockdown, I had the whole place for myself - for a very reasonable price. I have been able to quickly travel to probably the most photogenic location of Iceland within 10 minutes when the Aurora hit. Highly recommended
The room had an excellent view overlooking Kirkjufell Mountain--perfect for evening beers or morning coffee. The room was more spacious than most hotel rooms and very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. We used the communal kitchen to cook dinner.
Hotel had an old-timey vibe to it in terms of design and decor, which we liked. Seemed a little under staffed, but the front desk guy quickly leapt to help us with whatever we asked. Hardwood floors in the rooms. Spacious bathroom.
Large rooms, warm and well appointed. A huge kitchen with actual ground coffee and three ways to brew some (Italian moka, French press, percolator) and great views of Kirkjufell. Also good value for Icelandic standards.
Great fit for us as a family of four. Nice to have multiple bedrooms and bathrooms and a well stocked kitchen. We weren't here long, but it was perfect for our Iceland trip needs.
