A hidden gem, smaller than more touristy towns like Varenna or Bellagio but with 2 great beaches next to each other on the lake with very safe swimming areas. Lots of opportunities to try watersports like paddleboarding, kayaking and windsurfing. Lots of restaurants to choose from, main waterfront square is the main hub at night with good food choices and spectacular views of lake and mountains. Everything walkable, we had a car and so meant we could also have some sightseeing days, Varenna and Bellano both 20-30 mins away, Bellagio about 80 mins.Guest review byPatrickUnited Kingdom - 6.0

A superb holiday location with stunning views, wonderful grass beach, lots of walking, biking and jogging paths. Close to the lake an not too far from the mountains, so everyone will find his option to spend holidays. I loved Colico. Quiet. Lovely waterfront walking path. We caught the train from Malpensa, then Milan Central to Colico. Worked perfectly. The ferry stops only a few times a day so best to be organised and book your tickets online. I did see people buying at the ticket office but arrive early. You can use the train also to get to other towns and sights. We don’t like rushing around so Colico suited us. A quit place with few restaurants and cafes (and some of them are exceptional, eg. a cafe Ferris serves great cornetti, a local gelateria Riva Reno by the street going to the main square - offered very good ice cream, Made Colico restaurant prepares one of the best pizza but it is worth to try menu degustazione as well. Apart from food there are some places to visit like Forte Montecchio Nord which can visited only with a guide (totally worth it) or a longer trip to Fort Fuentes. Piona Abbey is worth visiting (a bit difficult to get to without a car). And of course Varenna (with it villa Monastero, but the town itself is also worth seeing).Guest review byMagdalenaPoland - 8.0

tried the recomended restaurants but found them not to my liking then found a family run restaurant at the end of the piazza and started to enjoy the real food of the place. as it rained every single day we were there we did not do too much exploring but watching the cloud formation on the mountains surrounding the town was mesmering. brilliant if you want to just relax, but as the boats run frequent you can move well.Guest review bycarmelaUnited Kingdom

Our room overlooked the lake and had all that we needed for our 2 night stay. It was a 10 minute walk from the station. The hotel was next to the plaza with plenty of restaurants on the waterfront. It was opposite the ferry terminal so easy to catch the slow or fast ferry to many places on Lake Como. A very quiet and restful location. Giovanni is a great host and we loved the house, the nearby beach (3 min walk through the forrest) and the quiet location. Piona beach (1 km) is an excellent windsurfing site, Collico offers bars, restaurants, grocery shopping and two windsurfing schools.
