It was a pleasure to visit Monteisola, and a pleasure to stay at Casadina. in the heart of this island, near to the promenade area. Corina was just amazing, making our stay as comfortable as possible. We had a delay in arriving and we didn’t get any taxi from train station to ferry, and she send her daughter to pick up us. Being on the Island and especially sleeping and then waking up on the Island is a unique opportunity to step away from normal life and slow everything down. It's the most populated Lake-Island in Europe and so has enough to offer the tourist in terms of accommodation and restaurants etc while still providing the 'island feel'. Lack of cars goes a long way to heling this. Sensole is the best place to stay as it provides evening sunsets and is just that far enough away from Peschiera to help the crowds thin out a little
A beautiful and tranquil place, one can easily walk around the entire island in a couple of hours, no traffic (there are no cars on the island and only a very few small trucks and buses, there are motorbikes however). Climbing to the very top of the island is a most, but beware it is basically straight up and could be very strenuous for some, but worth it. The small villages around the island are charming, very low key. Food on the island was very good, Trattoria Ai Tre Archi is family run and very reasonable. Trattoria del Sole also very good, a little bit more expensive but a lovely setting.
A quiet island. No cars. An oasis of calm. Lovely people. Good restaurants. Great ferry service. Perfect place to relax. Mr Bike in Sulzano rents good cycles with the nicest cycle ever from there to pisogne. All in all a little gem
After a couple of weeks in the big cities of Italy, Monte Isola was a perfect change of pace. The parks were relaxing and the restaurants were all amazing! Everyone was so hospitable, despite our lack of Italian. The treks to and from different areas were more strenuous, especially in the heat and humidity, than expected. But, the bus was reasonable and easy to use. And, best of all, for self-proclaimed “foodies,” we really loved the fresh fish, pizza, & pasta! (Vittoria, La Torre, & Al Campel respectively.) We appreciated finding this gem where few people were tourists, especially in the more northern towns of the island.
Little hidden gem .dont want anyone else to know about it so that it doesn’t become as busy as garda. Hired a beautiful boat from eccole arechetti and would definitely recommend. We visited Verona for the arena opera and Garda to visit sirmione and the Roman ruins. So sad to be leaving x
The island is well worth visiting and great for r&r. We enjoyed walking to the top of the hill and hiring bikes to cycle the perimeter. There where plenty of restaurants to keep us satisfied for 4 evenings.
