Hotel Villa Romana, hotel in Porto Empedocle

Hotel Villa Romana is set on the Agrigento Coast, near the famous Turkish Steps and 6.2 mi from the Valley of the Temples. Enjoy sea views from your private terrace.

The bedsheets and towels were very white and oferred a luxury sensation. Also the bath gel and shampoo very nice. The location is close to Scala dei turchi, pleasant walk on the beach(1.2 km). The big parking lot near hotel. Good breakfast (the pie with pistachio was my favourite). The sand is very thin and the water of the sea is small near the beach, I suppose is a good beach for children.

Borgo delle Pietre, hotel in Porto Empedocle

Located in Porto Empedocle, 1.5 miles from Marinella Beach, Borgo delle Pietre has accommodations with a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace.

This is an ancient inn in the country, lovingly restored by the owners. It is surrounded by fields and olive trees (and some solar panels) and cooled by the breeze off the ocean. The charming courtyard is the heart of the stone structure, a good place for breakfast, an aperitif and conversation and I imagine dinner, too, on warm nights. Kitties sleep in the sun and don't seem to bother the birds that fill the air with their song (and even keep a nest in the reception area). The indoor dining and living room is very attractive, modern yet cozy. Behind the hotel is the inviting swimming pool. Dinners were a highlight - we enjoyed two excellent meals served by the very friendly, helpful staff, Angelo and Marc. The owners are very generous with their time and are personally interested in your enjoying their hotel. The Borgo is close to the Valley of the Temples and a number of great beaches.

Case Vacanze Ancora, hotel in Porto Empedocle

Set on the beach just outside Porto Empedocle, Case Vacanze Ancora offers a pool with sun loungers. Apartments are air conditioned and feature a balcony or terrace, some with sea views.

Great place to stay right across from the beach. The bed is firm and the pillows are flat but that’s really everywhere in Sicily. The restaurant is fantastic though. We came in the low season when there’s not much going on and loved it. There’s walkable spots for breakfast/lunch. The beach is really nice and great for walking. The Turkish stairs are about a 25 minute walk by the beach, do this rather than driving.

B&B Baglio Santa Croce, hotel in Porto Empedocle

Offering a sun terrace the B&B Baglio Santa Croce is located in Porto Empedocle in the Sicily Region, a 10-minute drive from Agrigento.

There was excellent security in the building so we felt very safe. The breakfast was very good, both with sweet and savoury items, fruit, yogurt and cereal. The owner was lovely, friendly and very helpful. The town itself was a short walk away with lots of restaurants. The landlady gave us several ideas and we tried them all!

Montalbano fans will like to visit Porto Empedocle as there is a mural of Andrea Camileri and a bronze statue of 'Montalbano sono' in front of the pizzeria on the Main Street. When in Porto Empedocle, a visit to the nearby 'Scala dei Turchi' is a must.

Nice restaurants, good food, nice prices and nearby beach, I would avoid staying at the apartment we booked called Gocce Siciliane Apartments. Embellished photos, dirty balcony, no parking for the apartment and fridge slightly bigger than a matchbox. Glad to see, in their reply, they agree the price is ridiculous.

Its really nice and quiet while only a stone's throw away from the major attractions. It has some very good places to eat out and it is very easy to get around by foot. It does have rather un-reliable public transport connections though as well as having some areas with an aweful lot of garbage and untaken care of public areas. However this is a general problem in many parts of Sicily.

The old part of the town has the most character.

The old part of the town has the most character. Via Roma is possibly the nicest street but there is also a charming piazza just a few steps further towards the harbour. It’s easy to find the town as it is the starting point for ferries to the islands. Parking is easy in the winter but maybe not so easy during holidays. It’s very much a working town with lots of industries around as well as some really picturesque spots. There are lots of restaurants with sea food as their speciality but you can get a range of menus and at least one catering for gluten free. Porto Empedocles makes a good base for touring all the main sites on the south coast. You do need a car as the buses are infrequent and there is no longer a passenger train service. The streets are very narrow so a small car with good ground clearance is recommended as the roads in and around the town are not well maintained.

The location is very good, there was no problem entering the property, restaurants are enough in the neighbourhood. We liked KENYA very much - delicious food, friendly staff... It's a pity that the elevator didn't work in the house, as well as the drenage in the shower. The sofa in the living-room was kinda strange...

I checked-in at the B&B late almost at 18:00 Mr. Francesco waited for me thankfully, my room was very cosy and neat, the hotel is right at the center of the city and near the bus station and the bank even. so it was very convenient for me. Unfortunately I wasn't able to have breakfast but the dining area was fully equipped and well organized. Mr. Francesco was more than accommodating, he told me about a few good attractions in the city and where to have a good dinner. I would definitely stay there again. 😍😍

Breakfast was good , nothing spectacular.they have no beach club being across the street from beach .pool is good ,no heating so a bit cold when you get in . Parking is included and you need a good goa to get to the back of hotel . Had a great dinner meal just 100 m from the hotel to your left .best meal mussels, calamari, pasta seafood bowl. Was a very good meal . Valley of the temples was a 10 min drive and 3 min drive to Scala turci. Had Oceanview room with big balcony .this was a great place to unwind.

In the middle of lively beachside town, next to town square. Very large and clean. We booked at 7pm because when we got to Agrigento we didn’t like it. Port Empedocle, a few k’s away on beach is much Better place to stay. Host Livio waited for our late 9pm check-in ....even bought me a beer at the next door bar! If planning to visit Agrigento, skip it and stay at Porto Empedocle, and if possible at Livio’s La Rosa This sounds like a paid endorsement...believe me it’s not. We just had a bloody good time

Giusy was an amazing host, she was available via WhatsApp any time and had some nice tipps for us. The room was equipped as discribed and shown on the pictures. A small balcony to hang out wet towels from the beach is a nice add on. Due to covid, breakfast is not served in the accomodation, thus we had vouchers for a local pasticceria with really good coffee and croissants. In Porto empedocle there is not much to see, nur Agrigento and the beaches are nearby. We would stay there any time again!

Giovanni is a very good host. He made us comfortable and gave us lots of useful information about the area. We really enjoyed the free gelato instead of the breakfast as we were leaving very early next day. The property is next to the main high street of Porto Empedocle with free parking nearby but it is very quiet. There are good restaurants (Il Ritrovo), gelateria and mini supermarket nearby. It is perfect place to visit Valley of Temples and Stairs of the Turks.

We very much enjoyed our one night stay. Conveniently located close to Porto Empedocle and Stair of the Turks by walking. The host was very friendly, spoke English (thank you) and greeted us promptly and warmly. Our room was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable. Everything looks new! Breathtaking views of the sea from the common area patio. Continental breakfast included was very good! A fresh cake baked every morning. So good!

It provided a practical stop enroute during our road trip of Sicily. We received a great welcome, staff were very friendly and there was secure parking. Furnishings were basic but everything was there and there was a huge terrace. The location provided easy access to Agrigento and beaches, the town itself was somewhat underwhelming but had a selection of shops and restaurants.

The accomodation is right across the beach. The access to the room is modern, with no key, but with a code. The room was simple, with a fridge and a kitchen. The air conditioning was great. The surrounding area of Porto Empedocle is nice, you have Scala dei Turchi to the west and Valley of Temples (Valle dei Templi) to the east.

A place where you stay happily for more than a weekend. The sea is across the street and the beach is perfect for parents and children, with shallow water. The apartment is spacious and well equipped, we soon felt at home. All the beauties of southern Sicily can be visited starting from here. Enjoy!
