Great city - clean, functional and with a bit more space than in Tokyo. Convenient in that the Shinkansen runs through here and gets you up and down Japan fast. Next time I visit Japan I think I’ll stay in Yokohama compared to Tokyo as it’s much cheaper, rooms in hotels are larger, there’s an interesting Chinatown and a slightly more cosmopolitan culture than even Tokyo. Fabulous history of Japan’s first real international business trading in the 1860s.

Room was extremely small and there was an additional fee to use the resort swimming pool which I don't believe was noted in booking details. The Family Mart was a good addition to the hotel. The lack of air conditioning in the foyer areas was a struggle.

Citadines Yokohama is our favorite of the many hotels in which we stayed. Wonderful modern conveniences. Professional and attentive staff. And location of hotel to park, museums, excellent cafes and restaurants. Also must mention the close proximity to one of the nicest Chinatowns in the world. Lastly within a few steps from the hotel entrance is an entrance to the train station

We were there for the beginning of Golden week.
We were there for the beginning of Golden week. Lots of people holidaying on the first weekend. It was quieter through the week.
The gardens were in full bloom around the city and very clean.
The waterfront was clean and many flower gardens a relaxed atmosphere.
Prices for food and transport were reasonable often less expensive than expected.
The hop on off bus was good but limited at stopping at museums and places of interest.
The trains were easy to use always asked. We saved the routes to phone and showed people. Who could read English but not able to express it.
We caught the city bus to Sankeiein Gardens. Showed bus driver where going and he told us where to get off.
The trains and buses have English destinations - next stop as they rolled over on the indication board.
The Sankeiein Gardens were peaceful and had a free English guide. Jim who did a fantastic roll with communication and he enjoyed what he gave as a volunteer.
We ate mostly in the underground resturants eateries with lots of choices. Less than 500 metres from our accommodation at the Shereton.
Overall as over 70's independant travellers we found it easy to travel around Yokohama if you take your time with language and have planned where you want to go. Our advice is ride with the tide. Be patient and understanding. Don't travell in the rush hour before 10 and and after 3pm.
Yokohama Bay Hotel is ideally located for your last nights in Japan. There are some lovely walks along the bay side and really only about 15mins walk to the Red Brick Warehouse precinct on the bay where there are some interesting eateries and artisan shops. Of course there’s the Cup Noodle Museum and Fun Park with carnival rides, Ferris wheel etc for the kids. Underground malls and shopping precincts are connected to the hotel as well as a short walk to the train station and the Yokohama Art Gallery.
Very cool hotel, somewhat hidden away on a side street, with an austere, elegant feel. Bedroom was a huge low futon on a step-up in a tatami room. All black with a white bed. Shower/bath tub Japanese style, which was very enjoyable. Very private and quiet. A great section of Yokohama, with lots going on outside, with some fun restaurants. Wonderful spot that we hope to return to.
Location is fantastic. There is plenty of food and drink in the area, a short train ride to Yokohama.
It was really cheap for a single night’s stay.
The midnight staff were young competent and actually helpful (I speak Japanese so no idea about English support)
Location next to World Porters is convenient to a nice walk around the amusement park and the Red Brick warehouse areas. Inside the hotel is comfortable and quiet. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I live in Japan and found this an excellent local vacation.
Yokohama is a good location to ease yourself into being in Japan for the first time. Not as busy as Central Tokyo. The hotel was clean and fairly spacious for one. Good place for breakfast too.
