Watamu is a place to be..

Watamu is a place to be..I enjoyed my stay,i walked on the beautiful white sand beach.I enjoyed music at Mkoko bar and restaurant near Mapango beach. I had a night disco at starlight and the locals are friendly,, always taking care of us and ask if we are okay. I will obviously come back next year.

Watamu is beautiful , but unfortunately too touristical for me. Heavily overpriced for Kenya. People who like bust tourist spots will like it though... traditionally many Italians, if you want to avoid those, Watamu is also not your choice

Watamu has lovely people, tourists are so safe its unreal.

Watamu has lovely people, tourists are so safe its unreal. Large Italian population and visitors, so most hotels and resteuraunts are italian owned. Best place to eat and the most jawdropping view is from Ocean Sports.

Watamu as such is lovely with a few good public beaches.

Watamu as such is lovely with a few good public beaches. Restaurants are galore and most really good, although mostly expensive. Among the coastal towns I visited in Kenya and Tanzania, I have come back to Watamu most often. The water is crystal clear, the beach white and not overrun, and the area offers enough activities to not get boring.

Local administration and hoteliers should strive to attract more local tourists. Overdependence on foreigners leads to exaggerated prices in addition to leaving Watamu as a ghost town especially in low season.

Great location if you want a busy holiday! Lots of people on the beaches. Tide goes out a very long way during the day… good shopping in the area and lots of options of places to stay. Book well in advance.

A beautiful, serene space on the creek - which is more like a very big river. Views of the mangrove forest and surrounded by peace and quiet. The restaurant served delightful food from a small menu, and great cocktails. Friendly and accommodating staff. We loved swimming in the creek and renting the stand up paddle boards. Great place to read, relax and decompress. You can take a boat over to Watamu town which we did once for an excursion, but it was so peaceful we just stayed at the hotel the rest of the time!

Great central location within a walking distance to a the best watamu beach, restaurants and shops. The pool area was especially convenient as well as a beautiful garden that the hotel is surrounded with. Bui, Jay, Joseph and all the other members of the staff were great and always helpful. Owners are very lovely and kind. Great breakfast was served for us and we also really enjoyed the top terrace. We extended our stay and stayed for over 20 nights, which speaks for itself that we enjoyed Marijani resort.

Host is amazing, friendly and very helpful. Room is spacious with large terrace. Guests have access to kitchen and living room. We felt here like at home. Advantages: comfortable bed, swimming pool, quiet garden area of town, fast wifi. Everything is near - beach, markets, restaurants (local as so as touristy), main road with matatu, atm... If we will be in Watamu again, definitely on this place. Thank you!

The place was awesome. I was working while I was there and it was very cozy, comfortable and the staff was so accommodating. Internet was very good, was working back in the states and had no issues. The shower was also the best shower I’ve had in Kenya. Water pressure was perfect. Netflix on the tv was also a huge plus. Couldn’t recommend more for anyone trying to relax and enjoy Watamu.

I was fortunate to get a room with a sea view. While the rooms generally do face the sea, some are partially blocked by the palm trees. I enjoyed the beach. The hotel has arguably the best beach in Watamu. The biggest plus is access to the Islands between 6.30am to around noon during the low tide. All in all, its a great place. Oh, the hottest joint in town is next door, Papa remo.

I loved this hotel. It’s in the most incredible location. The beach is stunning. The hotel has 2 beautiful salt water pools. My room had a lovely porch overlooking the back pool. The room is really generously sized. The food is delish and the margaritas exceptional! And the staff wonderful- attentive but never in your face. Kobe is so special!

Everything- stunning, staff is friendly and attentive and it is never loud. This place is exactly what I needed and it is owned by a local family (this should be commonplace but coastal Kenya is very much neocolonized). They pay attention to details. It’s impossible to be here and not feel like you’re at the best joint in town.

As a solo traveler, it is sometimes hard to balance affordable and great amenities, I did not have to here. The staff and accommodations were wonderful. The mattresses were even the right amount of firm to ensure a comfortable rest. It was an easy walk to greet the sunset on the beach. Just beautiful.

Tucked away in the bush and near the beach. Got up for early morning swim on a quiet stretch of beach and the road. Transport a bit pricier as it's further from the main part of Watamu but makes up for it by being less busy. Facilities were great for budget accommodation. Outdoor shower was nice!

Lalasalama b&b creates the atmosphere to feel safe and relaxed after coming back from a long Safari. Located in the hearth of Watamu, everything around is so authentic. The best staff you could ever ask for: they welcome you, give you advise, open up with fragments of their society and culture.

This is a great, clean beach house right next to a lovely white sand beach. The water is pretty warm and there arent aggressive beach boys at the beach. There are tiki beach umbrellas on the beach that you can hang out under. The receptionist Safari was very nice as well.
