It is recommended to take a day tour from Busan, but most day tours do not include the museum which is exceptional and really worth it. Gyeongju was kind of empty when we went, so it felt a little too quiet. If we go again we will opt for the day trip, however since we stayed 2 nights, we could see the museum and have dinner at an exceptional place which was highly rated for Korean food (again, which is not possible on a day trip as the buses head back to Busan in the evening).Guest review byDevyaniIndia - 8.0

I enjoyed seeing all the historic sites in Gyeongju. It was very busy when we visited as it was a holiday weekend. We managed to see most of the historic sites but would like to have seen more. Although there is a bus service it was difficult to navigate and buses to local historic sites seemed not to run very frequently. There was a city tour bus but this needed to be booked ahead of your visit. The best transportation was the small golf carts which you could rent by the hour. I wish I had another day to explore this lovely area, There are a lot of historic places to visit other than the site of the tombs. Some of the locations are not within walking distance so you need more time to visit them and one day was not enough if you are interested in the other historic sites. Ask locals for food recommendations as there are so many restaurants to choose from. The staff was so nice, we arrived too early and left our luggage behind the reception. Gone for our first walk and when we came back the man in the reception helped us to put our luggage in their service lift to bring them to our room. The room was big, has two queen beds and was oriented to the street, but we didn't hear a thing. Restaurants, shops, cafes, bus stops around. Cosy guesthouse. Very clean. Despite the fact that the guesthouse has existed for 10 years, it looks fresh and new. The room is comfortable and facilities as per Korean standards. Junny was a precious source of information and planned our entire sightseeing day with impressive precision and efficiency. The alleyways around the tombs hide some nice cafés and restaurants, and there is also a fastfood just opposite the hotel and several convenience stores. The rooms are spacious and clean.
