If you plan on staying in Thoddoo, I definitely recommend Chillax. The hotel is situated in the center of the island with a 15 minute walk to either of the two Bikini beaches. The rooms are cleaned everyday, fresh towels and bedsheets are provided every 2-3 days. The staff is friendly and ready to help if you need anything (you can borrow bicycles, snorkeling equipment, beach towels). Food was delicious but be sure to be at breakfast/lunch/dinner on time because it disappears fast :D We had a great vacation here.

I had trouble coming up with a rating for this stay. The room is new and gorgeous and a 10*.. A big room, lots of shelving and a very nice bathroom, lots of hot water. Where they failed is not putting sound insulation between the rooms. I was kept up really late each night because the man snoring loudly next door sounded like he was in the same room with me. Even with ear plugs I struggled to get enough sleep. I could hear their talking, TV and child screeching, not a relaxing stay in the evenings. Maybe you would be lucky and have quiet neighbour's, we did not.

This is exactly the type of accommodation that will be remembered for life because it has that perfect mix of beauty, comfort and hospitality. At the center of it all is the host Shifau. He's super kind and welcoming and sooo laid back. You will immediately slow down and relax like never before. The day starts with a breakfast of your choice - we opted for Maldivian every day and the mas huni (prepared by Shifau's mother) was so tasty and nutritious that you forget about being hungry for the rest of the day. The room is large with good air-con (we appreciated the low-noise mode at night). The bed is comfortable and perfect after a whole day at the beach snorkeling. The garden surrounding the villa is fantastic and there is also a terrace upstairs to relax in the evening. Imho location is also great, as it's close to the western beautiful side of the island and you can easily reach the 2 bikini beaches through lush plantations and coconut groves. We initially thought bicycles are needed (and Shifau can organize some for you), but in the end we walked everywhere because that's so enjoyable as there is always something to observe. We also opted for one dinner at the beach. Shifau and his team can organize it for you and we thought it's a magical experience: you will enjoy good food, barefoot, while watching the sun go down.

    An amazing snorkelling beach -no boats or travel required -just thousands of colourful fish and turtles, perfect white sand and palm trees. The concession stand sold delicious, fresh-picked fruit-watermelon, papaya, bananas. We loved the Coccoa beach restaurant and the Black Anchor and the Mango House had fabulous lattes and desserts.

    One of the best local islands in Maldives.

    One of the best local islands in Maldives. The island has 2 beautiful bikini beaches, the one located on the West is specially recommended, full of palm trees and equipped with free sun umbrellas, hammocks, swings and sunbeds. Snorkeling around the island is beautiful and you can see many fish, turtles, stingrays and even small sharks. There are many restaurants around the island (only a few accept card payment) and you can taste the delicious local fruit. Thoddoo is well connected with Male as the speedboat only takes 1 hour, you can easily do excursions to other islands and there is also an ATM (for local currency, not USD).

    During rainy season the roads are flooded.

    During rainy season the roads are flooded. Be prepared to walk through puddles with bare foot ;) The locals are so nice and the charm of the island is unique. Lots of different animals can be seen: We have seen sea turtles every time we went snorkeling, also there is a crab beach with 100s of palm size crabs. We have seen bats, parrots, lizzards and many more pretty creatures. Alcohol is not served anywhere on the island, but plenty of other entertainment around.

    Everyone thinks Maldives is a very expansive place, but I can say it is completely wrong they have budget holiday packages, so you can visit Thoddoo Island big green island, definitely we will come back to thoddoo island and I recommend THODDOO ISLAND HOLIDAY INN this is newly opened hotel in a nice location

    Of all the islands we visited during our Maldives vacation,...

    Of all the islands we visited during our Maldives vacation, we enjoyed Thoddoo the most. The under water life was amazing and much more alive compared to the other islands. The big negative about Thoddoo is that it's overrun by war-supporting russians.

    The island has beaches, of which we used only one - sunset beach. Beautiful place. During our stay the weather was great and the beach was beautiful where you can buy fruit from the local farms that make up half of the island. It tastes great. There are agencies on site that will organize a trip to see manta rays, diving, or dolphins for you. Something about the negatives... The island is experiencing a construction boom and the number of tourists will increase extremely fast. The biggest problem I have seen is waste management, which is solved by burning waste in one very ugly place in the corner of the island. I assume it's the same with waste water. It is a tax for tourism and an increase in the number of visitors. If the Maldivian government does not do anything about this, over time the Maldives will lose its beauty and drown in garbage and polluted water. Anyway, our vacation was wonderful and I would love to repeat it at this place.
