Beautiful old mansion with quality furniture Nice welcome by the reception staff Spacious room, ours (standard suite) was not on the pedestrian street but on the first floor onto the inside patio, which is quiet. Excellent location in the city center.

I can’t stop thinking about Casa Japa. Even now that I’m home, it’s still on my mind! This place is truly magical. From the stunning old arches and that beautiful black and white tiled floor to the peaceful corners with hammocks and lush plants, every detail is thoughtful and inspiring. My sister and I had the most memorable and relaxing stay. The staff also made our stay feel even more special. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely cared that we had the best experience possible. I loved it so much that I’ve come home inspired to bring a little bit of Casa Japa’s charm into my own house. This place is more than just a place to sleep it’s a place that stays with you long after you leave.

It is the most beautiful property in the city. It is perfectly maintained, to the point I thought we were the first ever guests to stay there. The people are nice and every single detail is thought out. They went above and beyond to make sure out stay was pleasant, even buying a crib for my baby. I am in love with the hotel.

Excellent location in the city centre, close to the seaside as well. Spacious clean rooms decorated in colonial style. We even had a bathtub, which was very helpful with the kids. Good water pressure and temperature. Friendly, helpful staff. The room was really quiet, even though there was quite a lot of traffic in the street it faced, due to the good sound isolation in the windows/balcony. The view from the balcony was nice and there was private parking in the courtyard. We were even allowed to keep our car there after the checkout to enjoy a bit more of sightseeing.

    We've lived in Merida for 2 years and Campeche is our favorite get-away. Seaside on the Gulf with a long and beautiful Malecon. Any type of restaurant you could ask for. The entire Historical Centro is very walkable. The portions of the remaining fortification are impressive. Plenty of tours to take and sightseeing to do. In our travels in Mexico, we have not encountered a nicer main Mercado. Not the largest, but one of the cleanest with some of the best produce we've found. They do not have Uber, but the taxis are reasonably priced.

    Campeche City is a very laid back city.

    Campeche City is a very laid back city. Younger visitors may think too much so, but for older (non-party) visitors, it has everything you could ask for. History, shopping, food. Tours of the city and to Mayan ruins are readily available. Excellent mercado.

    We read incredible reviews of Campeche in both The Lonely...

    We read incredible reviews of Campeche in both The Lonely Planet and The Rough Guide, as to how beautiful it was and so planned to stay two nights, however, we ended up staying only one as there wasn’t that much to do there, and actually preferred Valladolid and Merida. We didn’t think it was any prettier than other places, and we preferred to have an extra night in Merida which we thought more stunning with more character.

    I love the history and architecture of Campeche and the vibrancy of activities at the parks. The Malecon is a must see and experience as it adds modern to the old and is just a relaxing area. Great food … nice people … lots to see … lots to do and it feels safe to move around. But the beach was a great disappointment. It’s far, expensive to get there and they charge you to enter yet they do not clean up the sargassum so it looks nasty and smells nasty 🤮

    great walled town, long Malecon for morning walks before getting too hot. Nice small museum of archeology. The town is getting cleaned-up, repainting a lot of the older bldgs facades. Nice restaurants, very traditional Mercado, to buy fresh fruits and vegetables.

    1. We were greeted by Elda and her husband, even though we arrived late. 2. They showed us everything, told us everything and sent us information about where we could go for a walk around the city. 3. The room was clean, there was hot water, aromatic soap and shampoo. 4. Kitchen area with modern appliances - super. 5. Nearby there was a market with vegetables, fruits and seafood. 6. A great book for traveling around Mexico. 7. Elda and her husband met us and saw us off. Elda thank you for your warmth, coziness and comfort.

    It was very easy finding the place via Google Maps, which helped when coming by taxi from the bus station. The staff was really welcoming and we were provided with many tips and advice about where to go and what to do in the city, as well as restaurants including veggie options. The manager could have his own travel agency! He also was quick to respond when we realized, late in the evening, that toilet paper was missing. And the water was free. You'll hardly get a better price-quality ratio in Campeche!
