Casa do Loureiro is located in Arganil. The property features mountain views. The chalet has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a TV, a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a patio with garden views. We were bikepacking through Serra da Estrela and we needed a place to stay for the night. It was really late and we just had a flat tire before descending to the village. We were exhausted and hungry but we rode to the village with the last drop of energy we had. Upon arriving at the village's main square we felt like crying... Mrs Adelina and her husband Mr. Niz were waiting for us with a feast they had set up in front of the only cafe/restaurant the village has. I kid you not... They didn’t had a Michelin star but it was one of the best meals I ever had in my life. They were so kind to us, so patient and treat us like we were kings. They were one of the most kind people I ever met and we're still friends to this day. They are very proud of their village as they should be, and you do notice that because there are no stones left unturned. The village is really well taken care of as is the house we stayed in. The village only has 9 inhabitants and you're free to wander about. It really feels like it's just one property and just one family living there. It was our favorite stay in the whole entire trip and we're pretty sure we'll be back.

Besides the little detail about the light in the kitchen, everything was impeccable, the view was breathtaking and the fireplace made us forget about the could that was outside. It couldn't had been better!
Located in Arganil, 18 miles from Lousã, Vumba Agrotourism provides a seasonal outdoor swimming pool and free WiFi. Joana was a lovely host, she went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The yogurt and queijo fresco from her goats are superb! We did not stay long enough to enjoy the pool, but it looked lovely! She is also very dog friendly which was a plus for us and our dog. In this current COVID-19 age of travel it was also very reassuring to see how clean the room and common spaces were. Vumba takes safety seriously! We will be back again soon, and next time we hope to stay longer!

Greed and ignorance provoked the biggest forest fire ever see in Portugal that destroyed almost completely the Arganil district. In times of severity, urgent measures are needed. However it seems that nothing is being made to recover from such a catastrophe and all we could see where new eucalyptus plantations. Besides destroying biodiversity, I hope the wonderful people of Arganil won't suffer again such a disgrace in a few years when the otherwise beautiful landscape becomes again populated with eucalyptus and pine trees only waiting for a new epic destruction even like the oct 2017 event.
If you are looking to relax on holiday then this is the place to go, beautiful scenery, plenty of restaurants, loads of beautiful walking. The area is typical rural Portugal, however there is an English pub a few minutes drive away if you are missing home.
