2 nights is minimum and 3 nights - optimal time to get around pretty small town. Inside the walls you should pay attention to the Cathedral, Chapel of Bones and nearby park. Aqueduct and Roman temple are recommended if you pass by. Restaurants offer tasty and affordable choices, souvenirs are better priced that in seaside villages. Don't miss attractions Almendres Cromlech - some 15 minutes by car and beautiful non-Ocean beach in Mourão (1h drive from Evora).
Evora is a very interesting city to visit with almost too many buildings and sights to see. You need a good comfortable pair of shoes as there is a lot of walking to do. Loads of cafés, icecream parlours and restaurants to choose from. During the summer Evora gets extremely hot, so loose clothes and a hat are highly recommended.
A very historical town , lots of beautiful old buildings and open squares with many little restaurants all within the old city walls . I would recommend a visit to the beautiful Saint Francisco church to visit the Chapel of the bones , which was very Eerie and interesting .
The best experience was the Ebora Megalithic archeological tour with Sira. I recommend it very, very highly. Sira is an archaeologist and very knowledgeable about this area. This region has been a historic crossroads for millennium and she made it come alive.
Got the tip from an internet travel guide and it was certainly worth the trip. Evora is a quaint town rich in history. It is an outdoor museum - as touted with a lot of places to visit within walking distance. I highly recommend a stay in Vitoria Stone hotel which will make your stay even more pleasant. As a bonus, you will find at the back of the hotel, O Parque Dos Leitoes, which serves the best suckling pig in Portugal. Lastly, extend your visit in Evora by visiting the Castle of Monsaraz, about 45mins drive from Evora, and get thrown back to medieval history. It will be worth it!
Evora itself is a historic and charming city, plenty of places to eat, shop, and sit down and relax from the historic buildings. Evora is also a very suitable hub from where to visit other smaller cities and the country side in general, including wine estates (e.g, FitaPret) and organic farming sites (e.g. Pepe Aromas).
Évora
Everything! The apartment was absolutely beautiful, like out of a design magazine. It was extremely well equipped with everything we could possibly need, plus goodies like wine, fruit, cheese and cake. The location was minutes away from all sights and restaurants. It was easy to park right next to the door to unload, and free parking was available 2 minutes away. The host responded very promptly and self check-in was super easy In short, we could not have asked for a better stay. In 2 weeks in Portugal, this has been our favorite stay!
Location within Evora is great. You can walk out of the hotel and explore the city and come back to avoid the Midday heat. Evening wise we walked into town each night to enjoy the atmosphere and many restaurants. COVID wise all was OK. Breakfast Buffet was great, good selection and COIVD wise well organised. I would stay again if I returned to Evora. They have parking under the hotel which I liked. OK you pay 5EUR a day, but its great to have a secure spot for your Car.
The setting is lovely and quiet in the countryside. We had a villa and the view over the rolling hills was awesome. You can take a 15 minutes walk on the property grounds to the river nearby and it is beautiful. Pretty far to drive to Evora for dinner though, 15 minutes. There was dinner available at the hotel but we did not opt for it. The villa was very beautifully decorated and had all amenities. We did not use the pool since it was very cold outside.
The surroundings, quietness, the comfort of the rooms, the incredible spa facilities and the fact that the convento is big and it really feels like you are secluded in a oases of quietness and a incredible peaceful place, we really had a relaxing and nice week. The hotel is about 3 km of the city so you could drive around and discover the beautiful city of Evora! Thanks Cristina Oliveira and the team to take such good care of us this week!
The Paso de Vale is on a highway 2 km west of the center of Evora. The parking is easy and free. It is about 300 m west of the Pingo Doce supermarket center, which is convenient for getting small supplies or fruit, etc. The hotel is rated 3 stars and I would say it is actually 3.5 stars. It does not have an elevator which is probably why it only has 3 stars. The breakfast was very good and in a pleasant room with mostly glass walls.
It was a perfect stay. Victor is an excellent host, very friendly and helpful in any way. The breakfast is heavy from a buffet with really fresh orange-juice. It is very quiet in the backyard and comfortable to relax at the swimming-pool. We made a roadtrip through Portugal and this hotel was definitly the BEST. The only thing was: it is a little bit tricky to find because on the outside there is only a very small sign.
Within the old center of Evora you will find this old former palace with parts of the Roman wall in your room. We received a warm welcome from Paolo who showed us more or less all parts of the hotel and have us great tips to move around the area. Loads of history in and around Evora as well as some of the best wineries of Portugal (ie Cartuxa) . We had a great time
The hotel has a fabulous salt-water pool, which sure was a relief on those hot days. Very friendly staff. Perfect location just outside of downtown Evora, making those trips to the surrounding white-washed, hilltop villages even easier. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Evora, and I'll be back.
The hotel has a beautiful interior design. The staff is really friendly and hard working. The food is superb, this goes for the restaurant but also for breakfast. The pool is small but makes up for it with the design, view and poolside bar. Short walk to Evora center.
It is a very nice hotel and it is my second time here. I will for sure come back. Staff members are extremely kind and breakfast is great. Rooms are spacious and clean. It is very close to the center of Évora, within walking distance, which is great.
Location is superb! The swimming pool is a plus, so near to the old town. Also the free parking place around the hotel. I would come back here and/or discover the other hotels from this hotel chain in other towns in Portugal.
The room was very clean and the staff was kind and helpful. The Guest House´s location at the heart of Évora is very strategic. The whole building conveys a welcoming feeling, and the interior decoration is very stylish.
Évora
The location of the house is awesome, the house is so charming, and Ana has been helping us not only for the house and the keys, but also to have the best experience in Evora, a very nice city in Portugal.
Hotel is just inside the city walls and perfect for spending a day or two in Evora. There is parking below the hotel. The staff are very helpful
Staff were exceptional. Hotel is very clean, comfortable and relaxing. Excellent location and lovely to come back to after a day walking in Evora.
Great hotel, good value. Offersuch and food is great.
The view and the balcony of the room were incredible, the indoor pool was warmish and in a lovely setting, and the breakfast was one of the best I've ever had at any hotel anywhere.
The decor and cleanliness was top notch. The staff was extremely nice. Had a massage with the therapist Jorge and truly recommend him! Lunch at the property was excellent.
Thelma the receptionist is a treasure when it comes to finding awesome restaurants and best advice for visits.
excellent location between train station and city centre
