A very historical town , lots of beautiful old buildings and open squares with many little restaurants all within the old city walls . I would recommend a visit to the beautiful Saint Francisco church to visit the Chapel of the bones , which was very Eerie and interesting .
The best experience was the Ebora Megalithic archeological tour with Sira. I recommend it very, very highly. Sira is an archaeologist and very knowledgeable about this area. This region has been a historic crossroads for millennium and she made it come alive.
Got the tip from an internet travel guide and it was certainly worth the trip. Evora is a quaint town rich in history. It is an outdoor museum - as touted with a lot of places to visit within walking distance. I highly recommend a stay in Vitoria Stone hotel which will make your stay even more pleasant. As a bonus, you will find at the back of the hotel, O Parque Dos Leitoes, which serves the best suckling pig in Portugal. Lastly, extend your visit in Evora by visiting the Castle of Monsaraz, about 45mins drive from Evora, and get thrown back to medieval history. It will be worth it!
Evora itself is a historic and charming city, plenty of places to eat, shop, and sit down and relax from the historic buildings. Evora is also a very suitable hub from where to visit other smaller cities and the country side in general, including wine estates (e.g, FitaPret) and organic farming sites (e.g. Pepe Aromas).
Stayed inside the old city walls in a perfect, small charming Hotel. All attractions including the Roman Temple and churches were nearby. Great Restaurants, cafes, and stores all at walking distance. Public Buses and taxis available if one needs to travel outside the old walls.
Loved the Roman Temple, Cathedral next to Roman Temple and Ebora Monolithic tour. Getting a taxi was ok as long as you were near the main plaza or had your hotel call for one. Area restaurants are spotty but do recommend the Alentejo Cafe. Several restaurants were marked as open on google maps but ended up being closed for a church holiday. Always call first.
It was a perfect stay. Victor is an excellent host, very friendly and helpful in any way. The breakfast is heavy from a buffet with really fresh orange-juice. It is very quiet in the backyard and comfortable to relax at the swimming-pool. We made a roadtrip through Portugal and this hotel was definitly the BEST. The only thing was: it is a little bit tricky to find because on the outside there is only a very small sign.
The hotel was central to the pedestrian ancient city of Evora. You could walk anywhere within the walls easily. The room was old fashioned but that is what we wanted. We like a different experience each time, not a plastic American one. Breakfast was fine but limited, perhaps because of Covid. Nice to have wine on the terrace before going out for dinner. All in all a great place to stay.
This was one of my most pleasant experiences in a long time. As a business traveler I stay in far too many hotels. It has been a long time since I was so pleasantly surprised by how nice the space was at Selina Evora - from the spectacularly comfortable rooms to the poolside area - but mainly by how friendly and helpful the staff were. Could not recommend it enough.
Évora
Everything from the first booking, to check-in, to the stay itself was simple, lovely, and the greeter was very nice and helpful by giving us the layout of the area and suggestions of what to do and where to eat. If they suggest you eat at Cozinha da Catarina you should definitely try it :)
Our room was large and filled with light and a panoramic view of Evora. The breakfast buffet offered choices for every taste. The staff was always friendly and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located just outside the wall with ample parking.
The hotel is very modern and has an elevator. Staff were quite friendly and helpful. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. If you have a car, you can use the garage under the hotel for 8€ a day. It's a short walk to the center of town.
Évora
Exceptional service and support from Joao Moreira. Great location in the heart of Evora. Burgos Guest House is my Husband's and my favorite of the six places we stayed in Alentejo area of Portugal
Great spot in Evora, right outside of walled old city- a 5 minute walk. Very helpful staff. Very plentiful breakfast with lots of options. parking was right in front of hotel.
Lovely hotel located right in the centre of Évora. Breakfast was great, the beds super comfortable, very quiet room and despite Covid restrictions we loved our stay.
Hotel is just inside the city walls and perfect for spending a day or two in Evora. There is parking below the hotel. The staff are very helpful
This is a very nice hotel in a historical setting. The place is lovely and a good point to start exploring the region without being in Evora proper.
I liked everything about the hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. I will recommend to anyone I know who will be traveling to Évora.
estupendo hotel en Évora. Sin duda repetiremos.
The common areas are nice and some are renovated and even better. The staff was very nice, the breakfast was good but nothing extraordinary for a 4 star hotel. Most of the outdoor parking has shade for the cars. Flexible check-out when asking.
Breakfast was amazing for that price. Comfortable and clean rooms, big bathroom. Not in the center of Evora but near, Great decision, if you come with a car - they have big parking lot.
For the affordable price, we were pleasantly surprised at how extremely comfortable and nice the rooms were. We wish we'd been there in the summer to be able to use the pool!
The decor and cleanliness was top notch. The staff was extremely nice. Had a massage with the therapist Jorge and truly recommend him! Lunch at the property was excellent.
The setting & building were very beautiful & it was all very tasteful & kept the authenticity of the place with it still being very comfortable.
Our own little mobile home. Separate bedroom, kitchen, sitting area and bath. Private parking. Quiet area.
Great location, great service, good value for the money
