Évora is Unesco patrimony and it's a deserved honour. The tiny streets, the monuments, the life in it, are unique. The outskirts also deserve some credit: the Cromlech of the Almendres is a megalithic complex located 4.5 road km WSW of the village of Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe; the city of Montemor-o-Novo with its castle, churches and tiny streets; Arraiolos or Évoramonte...all worth a visit
Beautiful mid-size city, easy to walk around. The Cathedral was well worth the low cost of admission. I highly recommend the restaurant Tua Madre, just southeast of the Praça do Giraldo, and for pastries, the Pastelaria Conventual Pão de Rala. We only had one night and day in Evora, and I wish we had been able to stay another day.
Some great sights, especially the Roman temple, Chapel of Bones and Cathedral. Unfortunately, the Igreja Sao Joao Evangelista was temporarily closed. Very easy to get around the town, though definitely not in heels as most of the streets have cobblestones. We spent 2 days there but 1 day is enough to see all the sights. However, Évora is less than 30 minutes from the cromlech and menhir "dos Almendres", which are well worth a visit.
An amazing city full of history and tradition. A marvellous atmosphere and very well preserved. A very clean city, full of life and places to visit. I love wandering around and the surroundings are relaxing as well. Marvellous landscapes.
I traveled from the Algarve to Porto and EVORA is the only town/city which was dirty. Not just dirty, there is pidgeon poop everywhere and rats and cockroaches visable on the streets. The people forced to live there are not happy. Horrible place that has a few points of interest which could be seen in a few hours. I do NOT recommend staying overnight or any longer than necessary in EVORA. I ate at Café Alentejo paid 36 euros for shrimp that was mushy and not fresh. truely a bad experience all around.
Evora is a lovely small historical town with a university. It is easy to get around everywhere by walking. There are some nice restaurants. It moves at a slower pace, and there are some good sights to visit.
Évora
Everything! The apartment was absolutely beautiful, like out of a design magazine. It was extremely well equipped with everything we could possibly need, plus goodies like wine, fruit, cheese and cake. The location was minutes away from all sights and restaurants. It was easy to park right next to the door to unload, and free parking was available 2 minutes away. The host responded very promptly and self check-in was super easy In short, we could not have asked for a better stay. In 2 weeks in Portugal, this has been our favorite stay!
We enjoyed everything. Great service, amazing location, beautiful interiors, etc. All in all, a perfect hotel if you are interested in staying in a historical setting. The stairs, the bar, the breakfast location (in an old cloister) are not only very pretty but also well preserved. The location couldn't also be better, as the hotel is situated right in the center of Évora, in between the cathedral and the Roman temple. The staff was very attentive and polite, and always willing to help.
The setting is lovely and quiet in the countryside. We had a villa and the view over the rolling hills was awesome. You can take a 15 minutes walk on the property grounds to the river nearby and it is beautiful. Pretty far to drive to Evora for dinner though, 15 minutes. There was dinner available at the hotel but we did not opt for it. The villa was very beautifully decorated and had all amenities. We did not use the pool since it was very cold outside.
The staff (especially Noemia) were always very nice and helpful. The breakfast was varied and tasty. We also tried pizza for lunch, which was very fresh, congrats to the chief! There were more than enough chairs at the pool. The electricity points near the terrace chairs is also a good detail. The room shower was nice, but the room could be larger. The hotel location is perfect for walking around the centre of Évora and has convenient parking.
The hotel was central to the pedestrian ancient city of Evora. You could walk anywhere within the walls easily. The room was old fashioned but that is what we wanted. We like a different experience each time, not a plastic American one. Breakfast was fine but limited, perhaps because of Covid. Nice to have wine on the terrace before going out for dinner. All in all a great place to stay.
Évora
Hosts were exceptional! Miguel provided us with a wonderful introduction to Evora and Portugal. His knowledge of the area is phenomenal and was the highlight of our trip. The place is very peaceful, and the atmosphere was very welcoming. The room was clean and we want to thank Raquel for being such a friendly host. We hope to return shortly in the future! Highly recommend staying here!
The hotel is situated in a very picturesque and peaceful area, only a short drive away from the city center of Evora. The hotel staff and owner are extremely kind and responsive people, always willing to assist with whatever they can to ensure an enjoyable stay. If you are looking for a nice and affordable place to stay at near Evora, I would highly recommend Quinta Dos Bastos!
The location of the hotel is very good. You can walk to the center within 10 minutes. Good accessibility. Hotel with indoor and outdoor pool. Very friendly staff. Hotel is fully air-conditioned. Restaurant offers the option of a menu or ala carte. Food was tasty. Wine - was good, I was not blown away. There are better alternatives in Evora.
Great location if you’re doing a road trip through Portugal. hotel has a modern feel, clean comfortable rooms and a great rooftop bar. Dinner in the restaurant was first class and excellent value. Excellent breakfast. The team are well trained and provide top rate service. close to the old town cultural and historic sites.
Beautiful hotel in a very quite area, but walking distance to all sites to visit in Evora. Front desk Maria was very professional and willing to provide all needed information. The lobby area is very nice, as well as outside, pool and yard. Very clean room. Spacious, comfortable beds. Good breakfasts.
Èvora hotel has many wonderful facilities for families, including activities for the kids. Beautiful, large outdoor pool plus kiddies pool. Lovely indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Excellent breakfast buffet, very helpful and friendly staff.
Right in the middle of the historical part of the city. From the hotel, you simply walk all around the city. Old house with it's own specific atmosphère. Very friendly and efficient crew.
Beautiful Hotel very close to the old town of Evora. Walking distance to Roman Ruins, restaurants, bars and anything else you need. Very helpful staff
Peaceful, very quaint. Gave us an idea of what a farmhouse in Portugal was like. The hostess was very pleasant and tried to make our stay enjoyable.
luxurious spacious historic and had all the facilities of a 5* hotel. staff were friendly, food was good, location outside Evora was ideal for us.
Comfortable, clean hotel within easy walking distance of downtown area in Evora.
