2 nights is minimum and 3 nights - optimal time to get around pretty small town. Inside the walls you should pay attention to the Cathedral, Chapel of Bones and nearby park. Aqueduct and Roman temple are recommended if you pass by. Restaurants offer tasty and affordable choices, souvenirs are better priced that in seaside villages. Don't miss attractions Almendres Cromlech - some 15 minutes by car and beautiful non-Ocean beach in Mourão (1h drive from Evora).
Evora is a very interesting city to visit with almost too many buildings and sights to see. You need a good comfortable pair of shoes as there is a lot of walking to do. Loads of cafés, icecream parlours and restaurants to choose from. During the summer Evora gets extremely hot, so loose clothes and a hat are highly recommended.
A very historical town , lots of beautiful old buildings and open squares with many little restaurants all within the old city walls . I would recommend a visit to the beautiful Saint Francisco church to visit the Chapel of the bones , which was very Eerie and interesting .
The best experience was the Ebora Megalithic archeological tour with Sira. I recommend it very, very highly. Sira is an archaeologist and very knowledgeable about this area. This region has been a historic crossroads for millennium and she made it come alive.
Got the tip from an internet travel guide and it was certainly worth the trip. Evora is a quaint town rich in history. It is an outdoor museum - as touted with a lot of places to visit within walking distance. I highly recommend a stay in Vitoria Stone hotel which will make your stay even more pleasant. As a bonus, you will find at the back of the hotel, O Parque Dos Leitoes, which serves the best suckling pig in Portugal. Lastly, extend your visit in Evora by visiting the Castle of Monsaraz, about 45mins drive from Evora, and get thrown back to medieval history. It will be worth it!
Evora itself is a historic and charming city, plenty of places to eat, shop, and sit down and relax from the historic buildings. Evora is also a very suitable hub from where to visit other smaller cities and the country side in general, including wine estates (e.g, FitaPret) and organic farming sites (e.g. Pepe Aromas).
We enjoyed everything. Great service, amazing location, beautiful interiors, etc. All in all, a perfect hotel if you are interested in staying in a historical setting. The stairs, the bar, the breakfast location (in an old cloister) are not only very pretty but also well preserved. The location couldn't also be better, as the hotel is situated right in the center of Évora, in between the cathedral and the Roman temple. The staff was very attentive and polite, and always willing to help.
The cleaning is top (no complaints) , very nice swimming pool, good breakfast with homemade cakes, each inside and outside equipment are well maintened. We appreciated the serenity of the countryside around. The receptionist speaks very good English, and gave us a very good welcome with nice advices to visit Evora. Nice and pleasant people who manage this hotel. We had to fix a problem with the air conditioning and we got an intervention in less than 2 mins. I highly recommend this place
Évora
The conveniently located accommodations were operated by a dedicated staff are a wonderful family that love their community and want to ensure their guests have the information needed to love it to. The breakfast was delicious and included wonderful homemade lemon jam, likely made from the lemons growing on the property. Moufassa, the hotel guard cat, did his job well and loves scratches for payment.
Nice hotel in Evora, reasonably priced and with a very nice breakfast included. Big room, efficient A/A system, helpful personnel and close to roman temple and city centre (although 10-15 minutes walking from railway station which it is at the other side of the city). I would repeat if travelling again there.
Large room, very clean. Location in Evora is great. Common areas are large, well-designed and well-maintained. Nice swimming pool area, the pool itself is big and at right temperature (refreshing enough, without being too cold). A rare case of hotel that looked better in real life than on the pictures.
Our stay at Vila Gale Evora was great! The rooms were modern and extremely comfortable. The hotel itself was very relaxing! The pools were amazing and there were lots of chairs around them. Food was available at all times of day! Staff were very kind and helpful any time we needed anything!
Liked the staff, overall idea of hotel in rural setting, surrounded by wild flowers and sheep. Great pool, great SPA experience : one of the best. Location was perfect. Close enough from Évora to get an uber and go to town without having to drive.
Super cool guesthouse in an amazing building right in Evora centre yet still with access to a nearby garage. Outstanding rooftop terrace with a great view. Best breakfast I've had in Portugal with everything you could wish for and more.
Èvora hotel has many wonderful facilities for families, including activities for the kids. Beautiful, large outdoor pool plus kiddies pool. Lovely indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Excellent breakfast buffet, very helpful and friendly staff.
The Hotel and facilities are exceptional. Beautiful and a great place to rest, enjoy some history and see Evora and surrounding areas. Staff was exceptionally nice and competent. The old monastery is worth a visit on its own.
New, stylish hotel in a perfect location close to the cathedral. Variety of eating places in area. Walk to the main plaza in 5 minutes. Friendly staff, peaceful setting, comfortable rooms. I highly recommend Moura Suites.
I’ve traveled through Portugal and stayed in simple hotels. Staff is friendly and welcoming and helpful, the hotel is in the great location. And the outdoor terrace is a wonderful Way to start and end the day.
Loved this hotel! Beautiful rooftop pool with gym and sauna. Breakfast buffet was a treat. The location was right outside the walls of Évora
Lovely location for the car that we parked outside the city boundary. The hotel was lovely and had a distinct Portuguese flairs
stylish rooms, great location in Évora historic centre, excellent dinner in hotel restaurant.
Friendly clean hotel situated ideally to explore Evora
This was just a one night stand, the day after we had a cycling event. The reception staff was very kind and professional. Because we leave very early, they managed to prepare a breakfast to have in the room, we asked for some boiled eggs as an extra, which they did. The facilities looked very clean. I was not expecting the rooms to be so good and new, the bathroom looked new, the mattresses we more for the hard type, with no bumps, which is excellent. The Hotel Dom Fernando is going to stay as my reference when I visit Évora again. Well done, Hotel staff and management!
Super well located in the historic center Very good and attentive check in, advise and even Portuguese pasteis de Belem 6* stars!
The breakfast had a good selection and the lady who prepared everything was very kind and helpful. My room was also always clean.
The hotel is situated perfectly central in terms of the city. The quality of the room is also very high
