Hotel in Marvão
Located within the walls of the Marvão Castle, at the top of the high village of Marvão, Dom Dinis Marvão features a rooftop terrace with a Jacuzzi® and panoramic views of the countryside below. Great location with amazing views, it's right next to the castle. It was easy to park nearby (free). Very friendly and welcoming staff. Very clean place. Breakfast was delicious. The room was comfortable enough and I liked the electric kettle and tea in the room, nice to have it before bed. We had dinner at the hotel's partner restaurant Varanda, we had amazing cod and the inexpensive white wine we had was so good.
Hotel in Marvão
This 3-star hotel is located in Portagem, on the banks of the Sever River, where guests can enjoy a public pool. It has free WiFi and views of the historic village of Marvão. It is kind of hard to find place. It is a small hotel in a beautiful green place. We had been upgraded to (2) rooms with balcony and a view of the restaurant and the river and the surrounding mountains. We enjoyed that very much and thank you for that bonus. The breakfast was good, not excellent,We tried to convince the lady to make for us eggs sunny side up but we got scrambled eggs. It is not a big deal. Al in all it is a beautiful, nice and very clean place to stay. Well worth the money.

Marvão
Train Spot Guest house is located within a restored deactivated train station from the 19th century, in the small village of Beirã. Amazing 1926? building and stay at a now inactive building that is part of the closed Train Station next door. It looks like the Train Station but the ground floor has a large room with a fireplace that was used as a cafeteria eating area. No trains run on the railroad tracks and the location is very quiet day or night. The old kitchen where you make your own breakfast with owner-supplied bread, eggs, etc. has a fantastic original cast-iron range stove and huge marble sink. The entire ground floor is original. The second floor has upgraded bedrooms and bathrooms. Great exterior like Train Station with original Portuguese hand painted blue/white tiles. Hotel-recommended, nearby restaurants are excellent. The man and his sister who manage the hotel are friendly and very helpful. They are great hosts.

It is a place that takes you back to the past and leads to reflection. Obstacles were not problems, but only challenges to men and women who set out to overcome and achieve their goals. And today they serve as an example for us to conquer our dreams.
The area is fabulous for the geography. There are many walks, but often very poorly signed. Talking to the friendly shop owner was the best way we found to get to the walks. Wildlife and birds are amazing. Worth the visit just to hear the birds!
It’s a beautiful walled town with fantastic views. I don’t think it would be that great in bad weather as it would be very slippery to walk around. There is not much to do except enjoy the stunning scenery.
A hidden gem of a town. Bet it gets busy in summer but off season (we went early April) was peaceful and quiet. Small town with not loads to do so perfect for 1-2 nights of relaxation. We hired a bike from the hotel and cycled to the Roman fort and nearby Villa de Castilo.
Marvao is a fascinating walled village which is easy to walk round. However, there are lots of steps and cobbles so some people might find access difficult. The roads are very narrow so parking outside the walls might be preferable for some visitors but we were able to find a parking space inside the village. The views are fantastic. We visited the Chapel of Bones (difficult to find) in Campo Maior, the nearby roman town and Castelo da Vide, as well as exploring the local countryside. We enjoyed our meals in the Veranda Restaurant.
Mavao is a walled town on a mountaintop. It has a magnificent fort that is well maintained and gets explored every time that I stay there (my fifth visit). My mother, now age 95, declares Marvao as her favourite place in Portugal. She visited twice when she was younger.
Marvão
A wonderful and enchanting place to stay in the small hilltop village of Marvao! We had the entire house and it was like living in a fairytale. We watched the sunset on one side of the castle and the moonrise from our terrace. Stunning! The full eclipse of the moon was in the early morning so I walked alone through the walled village but the moon had already set and it was just me, a white cat and two birds in the pre dawn stillness.
Marvão
It was our fourth time in Marvão and our third time in Casa O Arco, so it's safe to say that we like these lodgings very much. It's spacious, clean and has great views of the sunset. We like that there's a washing machine and fully equipped kitchen. Mrs Marcelina made a few updates since our last visit, which we liked; a new door to the balcony and some patio furniture with a sunbrella.
Marvão
An amazing place. A real blessing to rest from the noisy Portuguese resorts in Algarve. Great view to the mountains. Amazing pool. If you want a good and peaceful rest, this place is for yoy. It is easy to find, 10 km away is a city with restaurants and supermarkets. You will definitely find something to visit around. Marvao Castle alone is worth it. We will definitely be back here one day.
Clean. Very good breakfast. Excellent location by the river Sever. It's just a short walk from the Portagem Roman Bridge, as well as some Serra de São Mamede walking trails and good local restaurants. It's a 30-minute walk from the ruins of Ammaia. The Hotel Staff is very helpful. As of May 2021 the breakfast is served at the table due to pandemic restrictions.
Marvão
The house was spacious, very comfortable for two families with kids. The hosts are extremely friendly. The location is exceptional, very close to restaurants, a swimming pool and with an amazing view to the Marvao castle. The hosts own a bakery right in front of the house where they offer breakfast that includes some delicious homemade pastry.
Very kind and helpfull staff. Beautiful B&B situated across the deserted Beirã-marvão trainstation. We found ourselfes under the delusion of an old movie...just charming. Quiet and cosy room with a comfortable bed. Complete and tasty breakfast. In short...highly recommended!
Marvão
Estalagem do Marvâo is a real gem and worth the drive up winding roads to get there. The beds were comfy (the absolute quiet of the town was a plus), lots of hot water and a good shower, and a lovely breakfast. We would love to come back and stay here again.
Lovely hotel in Marvao. Our room was perfect, with a beautiful view looking into the valley. We had dinner at the hotel and it was fantastic! Easy parking close to the hotel. Highly recommend.
