Two weary cyclists arrived for one night. We were delighted! Ines—one of the owners— is warm and welcoming. Our room was splendid—comfortable, lovely, overlooking the beautiful pool. Breakfast was perfect—obrigado Patricia! We liked this beautiful Solar ( a former school where Ines was a schoolgirl—how cool!) so much that we stayed one more night! My friend left for work in Lisboa and I stayed for a third night! One night turned into three because it is so delightful! I have cycled 94,000+km around the world and have stayed at well over 1000+ hotels around the world on every continent except Antarctica—Solar Dos Frades is one of the best! Obrigado Ines! This place is an absolute gem in the Alentejo. The place, the setting and gardens are spectacular. Stéphane and his team are fantastic and deliver a world class experience. I was there twice in the last month with my cycling company, Vera Cruz Cycling Tours, and we will always use Horta da Vila.
