Tomar is a very pretty little place. We were interested in the castle because of the Knights Templar connection, unfortunately the castle was closed for filming whilst we were there but we still had a nice though tiring walk up to it. There are some nice churches and places of interest. Restaurants, cafes and bars we visited were very nice too. Bella Vista restaurant was well worth a visit.
Tomar is a wonderful small town with a world-class MATCHBOX museum. Sounds insigificant but was a remarkable collection. I have to mention this because the convento de christo was CLOSED due to filming a movie with Millie Bobby Brown. Disappointing but we made the best of it. The aqueduct is amazing, though very frightening to walk along (100 feet off the ground with a foot-high wall).
There is a lot to see in Tomar. The historical sites are excellent. The Tuk lovers tour is the best as it shows you everything. You can get it at the main square. There are plenty of places to eat but the most popular ones are constantly full so you need to book ahead.
We were a party of three adults. Loved the town of Tomar. This was a second visit for us and this time we spent longer there exploring the sites. I recommend taking a guided tour. We chose the 2 day Knights Templar tour & enjoyed every minute. I recommend a visit to Tomar you won´t be sorry.
We were 3 adults. We had briefly visited Tomar three years ago but this time we spent four days and booked a two day Knights Templar tour .This is a great plan if you want to see everything of interest in Tomar & the surrounding area & we are so glad we did this. The town has some super shops & restaurants & is so charming. I would highly reccomend going there.
The convento and castle are so interesting, not expensive. Tomar is relatively undiscovered so never too busy. A must for culture buffs! So interesting and beautiful. The town below is buzzing in the evenings with lovely bars and restaurants serving all kinds of cuisine. Pleasant to stroll around, taking in the hugh church, the plain Jewish synagogue and full of ambience. Lots of small artisan shops to peruse, riverside strolls in absolute safety. A wonderful place to visit, especially every 4th year when the festival of tabulieros takes place, it's amazing!
I spent two nights here on my pilgrimage walking from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela, since I wanted a full day to explore Tomar, especially the Convent of Christ which is just across the river and up the hill from the hotel. It was the perfect place to me, and the grandmotherly women in the reception was a nice break from the typical young receptionist wearing a suit. They were quite happy to advise on where to go to run various errands I had, and understood exactly what kind of state I was in, as a tired walker.
Tomar
The hotel is perfectly located in the city center, near beautiful parks and restaurants. The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. They showed me what to visit (and you definitely need to visit the city). The kitchen is huge and I also enjoyed the space to relax with the smooth music. The bedrooms are big and comfortable. I liked it so much that I extended my stay. Thank you for everything, I had a wonderful time.
The staff was nice. Parking was included. Weather helped, we were able to use the swimming pool. Room was clean and had a nice view to Templar's Castle from the balcony. The location is very good, just in Tomar's centre with lots of places to eat. The hotel adjoins a park where you can take a walk by the river after dinner and before going to bed.

Great room, comfortable beds, big shared bathroom, beautiful common space, supper friendly host who took the time to talk to us about the history of the town and give us tips on where to go. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend!
