This was a real lucky shot! Extremely beautiful housing consisting of both traditional and modern elements. In a wonderful surrounding - particularly the pool, being a bit remote from the rest, impressed us with its beautiful view. Both breakfast and dinner was very good, the wine is recommendable, and the included winery tour was really interesting. And last not least very friendly and nice staff!

Our stay couldn’t have been more perfect. Our hosts were so kind and caring we felt like they had become our friends. The bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The breakfast offerings were delicious and we had home cooked four course dinners both evenings that were very satisfying. Our hosts arranged a winery tour for us that we greatly enjoyed.

Absolutely everything was a 10/10. We were welcomed so kindly from the beginning - had a welcome drink with the most gorgeous autumn views over the Douro while the room was prepared. The room was beautiful, spacious and so comfortable, we wish we would’ve stayed for longer! To top it all off, we had the tasting menu for our evening meal and loved all the variations on Portuguese classics, incredible food in a gorgeous setting. And the breakfast was also perfection - a mix of buffet options with a varied menu of cooked dishes. Would absolutely return in the summer to enjoy the terraces and the pool and can recommend to anyone visiting the Douro.

Stay more than one night and explore: it pays dividends.

Stay more than one night and explore: it pays dividends. Have a look at Favaios and try the Cooperative's Moscatels, walking in the hills, go and see the palaeolithic art (about an hour away). One or two nights is not enough, especially if you include port tasting too! And there is always the poolside to relax when you dont want to do anything!

The area is just beautiful, stunning.

The area is just beautiful, stunning. There is a sense of awe that overcomes you and the natural surroundings... probably because how narrow the roads are and how high up are. It is worth the drive and the wine and olive oil in the area are exquisite.

One of the most beautiful places in the World.

One of the most beautiful places in the World. Don’t miss this area. Stay out of the large city. A vineyard hotel up high would be the perfect place. You’ll be able to drive through wonderful small villages in your way. Once in your hotel you’ll probably have access to a great personal or very small tour of the vineyard production facilities. We were invited to walk in the vineyard all we wanted. Views are absolutely amazing. We also stayed at the Barrel hotel which was touristy and filled with buses. Get up and away from the tourist crowd. We drive there Valley by car. It was easy and gorgeous.

Lovely region where you can explore vineyards and nice food. It is worth doing a wine tasting with visit to know the details about wine making and the varities of grapes. The landscape is exquisite and you feel an inner peace looking down the Douro river and the vineyards. The people are warm and happy, always ready to help. It is better to go by car to enjoy the full potential of the region. Be prepared to drive on hills with many curves and narrow roads. They also produce olive oil and it is delicious!!!

I really enjoyed the personal service and the fact that the whole vibe was very friendly and the business family run. The shared dining experience made it interesting as we got to speak to other guests which we might not do in a larger hotel. The food was tasty (especially the pumpkin balls :-) ). We were also given lots of lovely wines and ports. Miguel explained everything and was very personable.

Upon arrival our host Paolo greeted us with a sample of their home made Port,,we were quickly checked in and shown the property...the hotel is all brand new and very tastefully done..the pool was warm. The room was great...ac worked good and lots of hot water in the shower. Breakfast was good and we opted to have two dinners there...the food was great. The view is spectacular...

Wonderful family run hotel in the heart of the Duoro Valley - perfect for hiking and visiting vineyards. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. The restaurant was lovely and a really nice breakfast as well
