It was a good base to re-charge and explore the northern part of Samui. Besides the Big Buddha and the other temples, there is not much going around and you will definitely need to rent a scooter or else to move around.
A 5-minute drive from Samui Airport, P10 Samui offers modern duplex rooms with direct pool access. Guests can enjoy free Wi-Fi or arrange sightseeing trips at the tour desk.

Very close to the airport, 10 min by car, perfect for the first few days on the island or the last few prior to departure.
Next time i will stay the first 5 days here to get off the jetlag, and the last 2 day before heading out.
the ferry to koh phangan is, depending on the hotel, in walking distance.

More than a couple of nights here is enough as there is very little to do at nights. If you get a motorbike though it becomes one of the best places to stay as everywhere else is within an easy journey.
The hotel restaurants are generally better than the established burger/pizza/steak places. Not saying they're bad but there there are better available. There seem to be fewer local Thai eateries around than used to be the case however the ones that are there are pretty good. Discovered a lovely little cafe/restaurant that I thought at first was purely Vegan but caters for all tastes and the food is all healthy and stuff...not a bad thing after a night on the beverage of choice.
The other thing you should be aware of is that now cannabis has been legalised there are shops and "cafes" everywhere...even a very nice "up market" restaurant that has a full a la carte menu of cannabis infused food in addition to the standard menu items...interesting concept.
To sum up I do the bookends thing, couple of days at the start and end of the Samui trip as the airport is just around the corner...works for me

Bangrak Beach is certainly not the nicest area on Koh Samui but it's conveniently close to the airport and the Bangrak Beach Pier to take the ferry over to Koh Phangang. Therefore a good place to spend a night if your flight arrives/departs too late/early for the ferry to Koh Phangang.

Bangrak is a nice place.
Bangrak is a nice place. The beach is not the best around but you can walk on it. The Bangrak road us busy with traffic and people drive too fast on the approach to it. It’s quite dangerous road and you have to be careful when crossing. Thus also makes it not very peaceful or relaxing.

The best thing that comes in mind is that the location is close, by car, to some important sightseeing, such as Golden Buddha, the Grandmother and Grandfather Beach, the Fisherman Village (2 km, the latter), the Waterfall 2 park, as well as to some of the greatest restaurants on the island: Coco Tam (best beach setting and great food), Jungle Club (the best setting, and amazing view with high quality in food), Suppatra Dining (probably the best dining on the island) and Dr. Frogs (great view, but the food did not met our expectations). The Central Festival Shopping Mall is also close, as well as the airport of Samui, that looks like a cartoon (my favorite airport in the world now).
You can drive easily by luxurious van limo at very decent prices. We had the services of Mr. Tee recommended by the staff of our hotel, the Scent Hotel. He was decent, professional and very polite and he uses WhatsApp.
There are beaches that appeared to us very intimate, like the one from Scent Hotel, or simply gorgeous beaches like the ones between Lamai and Chaweng.
Paul was an exceptional host and easy to get hold of and everything was faultless, accommodating and helpful with arranging a taxi to the pier on our leaving day.
The property was great, it had everything you need including access to tennis court and gym, a 20 min walk to the Main Street of bangrak beach and the great fisherman village, 10 min scooter ride to supermarket (The Big C)
Wifi speed was also great for uploads as we work remotely.
The hotel is not so big, resulting in a relaxed stay. All the staff is super friendly. The rooms are large and clean. Breakfast offers enough options.
The location is excellent, only a short taxi drive to Fisherman's village. The pier to start a tour to Ang Thong Marine park is also very close.
The view was absolutely magnificent, this together with a separate living room and the large balcony made you just want to spend time and relax at the hotel
