Urgup is small town but has a lot of very nice local restaurants, no chains!! A number of small shops selling local produce and the usual souvenir shops. We planned for 3 days to give us a better chance of flying in hot air balloon. We got to fly on our first morning, so we had 3 full days to fill in. We did a quite a bit of hiking with our 2 kids (8 & 11) which was awesome, plenty of land and caves to explore. We liked that you could just wander and explore once you parked up. 3 days was a bit too long for us but we don't like to pay for many things, so we ran out of free things to do quickly. Not really happy that you have to pay for parking everywhere, even at the hikes and lookout spots! Nice and lively town in Cappadocia. Compared to Goreme it is a bit further away from the main attractions in the area, but most tours offered pick-up services from our hotel anyways, so it did not impact us too much. Getting around the area is quite easy, with taxi and bus options available. Food-wise, trying the testi kebab is a must and a specialty of the area. There’s is so much to do in this part of the world. It’s so u inquest that you will need at least a week to see it all. We did the hot air balloons over the fairytale landscape, horse riding, atv, jeep safari and visiting the underground cities. The town is quiet yet there is a variety of restaurants and cafes for all budgets. We were not disappointed by any of our restaurant choices and the service was good. There is an authentic Art Cafe where they serve the most delicious Gozleme. The views are stunning and it is possible get close up to the caves and rock formations.Guest review byAnonymous

He recommended us to an amazing private guide (Suat) who shared with us his passion for the region and provided us with a lot of historical details. The breakfast is served with typical fresh local food (ex: yummy cherry marmalade, borek, homemade yogurt, olives,...). There is a terrace with a wonderful view on the ürgüp city. Bathroom was large with jacuzzi, which worked well - my son lived it. Breakfast spread was good, with fries, etc, cooked fresh, and provided in room with a view. Staff were friendly and organised a taxi at short notice for us - turned out to be a "luxury" vehicle with a price to match.
