Set in Idyllwild in the California region, The Grand Idyllwild Lodge offers accommodations with free WiFi and free private parking, as well as access to a fitness room. We loved wandering around the property, inside and out, discovering all the little perks and pleasures.
Boasting mountain views, The Nest features accommodations with a patio and a coffee machine, around 12 mi from San Jacinto Mountain. This holiday home provides an ATM and free WiFi. The Nest perfect for my long weekend getaway! Quite, cozy and "secluded" yet just minutes from the main part of town. Clean & nicely decorated They remembered all the little extras. Even bird seed for the birds! Loved my whole experience!
Casa Tahquitz offers accommodations in Idyllwild. San Jacinto Mountain is 4 miles away. All units feature a TV. There is also a kitchen, equipped with a dishwasher. The kitchen and living room area was very comfortable and great for cooking and staying indoors on a cold day. It lightly snowed overnight enough to dust the trees and the deck with fresh snow. We used the firestove in the living room to keep us warm and didn't need to use the heating for the house. We loved that the area was nice and quiet.
Fun to walk the shops when open. Pandemic has taken a toll on dining options and operating hours however, everyone is patient and try to do the best of the situation. As with other small communities, if you do visit Idyllwild try to help the local economy as much as possible; generous tips are much appreciated
This is the spot to be if you like hiking, peace and quiet, quaint shops, and surprisingly good food. If you want anything else, this will not be the place for you. There is almost no nightlife to speak of, and nearly all of the shops close at 5, even on the weekends. This locale definitely caters to older clientele, day hikers, and people who just need to escape the insanity of city life for a little bit. The area also seems to have a remarkable dog culture and I have never seen its equal anywhere else.
Not a good value. The posted picture is the lodge and not the cabin. They didn’t respond to the questions I posted about the cabin on the site provided. Idyllwild is lovely. We go there often. This was a disappointing stay.
Idyllwild is a great place for a little getaway. There are plenty of hiking trails to check out and the small little town center area is an interesting place to walk around and tour. The majority of the hikes in the area are in the Mt. San Jacinto State Park and will require a free hiking permit to access (which can be easily grabbed at the local Ranger Station, or State Park office).
We chose to visit Idyllwild with the family as a pre-Christmas outing. We rented a cabin for four days before Christmas and returned home on Christmas Eve to celebrate with extended family. We enjoyed walking around the city center and visiting the shops. The city and residents are very dog friendly. We had three little dogs with us. We took family pictures around the Holiday displays. We were invited to the Farmer's Market by a friendly merchant. Although small, the market was enjoyable and the vendors were friendly. We bought local honey and a last minute Christmas gift. It snowed for us, which made the trip wonderful. Great quiet and relaxing family time.
We have been coming to Idyllwild before I was even born, I love this place. It’s a home away from home for me! We have always stayed at either the court house on the rocks cabin or the cooper cabin. But have stayed in many others! It’s a very nice town with very friendly people and it’s one of my most favorite places to go!
The pictures of this place do not do it justice, it was way better than I had ever hoped. The kitchen was fully stocked with cups, pots, pans, silverware, plates and bowls. The jacuzzi was super relaxing, and the cabin was 3 minutes (driving) from the local town center where you can get coffee, grab a bite, or get some groceries, It was worth every cent!
Little details were amazing! It was super warm and clean upon arrival and the hosts has left a “fire” on the tv :) All the necessary items were there for cooking easily in the nice little kitchen. The living room was super homey and cozy. Beds were insanely comfortable and big. The Jacuzzi was such an amazing addition to the weekend!
