The location was wonderful, at the end of the town near the river. There's a bar at it too so you can socialize and walk to your room safely. All very walkable. The room was spacious and the shower was great. The staff were extremely helpful and went above and beyond helping me sort non-related issues such as making calls, and arranging the return of lost items to Anchorage for me. I would 100% stay here again.

Host picked us up at train station and gave us a tour of the town before checking us into a well appointed small cottage. He and his son, Vern, offered suggestions, Alaska information and stories through our stay. He was also helpful in obtaining a common medical device.

    2nd time we have been Talkeetna so that tells you that it is...

    2nd time we have been Talkeetna so that tells you that it is a little goldmine. The ice-cream store you have to line up for it but the wait is worth it. We had zucchini bread from another vendor for breakfast and that was awesome. Around the corner from the icecream shop we found this place which had hamburgers and steak and the meal was amazing. The best fries ever. The quilt shop is brilliant and you can catch a train here for a day tour which we should have done. It is an amazing place. We did a tour of Denali so it was a 2 1/2 hr drive from here to and from but well worth setting up here.

    I'm sure it helped that we had perfect weather....but even if it had not been, a rain jacket/poncho would have helped us still enjoy it. Beautiful views at the river. Great restaurant choices. Nice little stores. LOVED Mahay 3.5 hour Jet Boat excursion. We traveled all of Alaska....Talkeetna was our favorite destination, followed by Seward, Homer, Valdez, Denali, Anchorage, then Fairbanks

    Talkeetna offers the perfect opportunity for outdoor...

    Talkeetna offers the perfect opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts, adventure seekers, and those who wish to relax. We ate dinner and drank beer at the Denali Brewing Company in the evening and breakfast at The Homestead Kitchen the following morning. I recommend both restaurants for dining. Outdoor seating is available at both establishments. Denali Brewing has an outdoor gas fireplace if you can land a table nearby and provides overhead sunshades.

    Small, quirky, artsy town worth your time!

    Small, quirky, artsy town worth your time! Just 13 miles off the main highway, and so much good food!!! Mountain High Pizza Pie, The Salmon Spot, and Roadhouse morning cinnamon rolls, to name a few. Great local shops as well. Would DEFINATELY stay there again!

    Talkeetna is beautiful place. Perfect blend of old and modern. Every establishment I visited had friendly people. Whether it is an airplane flight to white water rafting Talkeetna will not disappoint.

    Talkeetna is a tiny "town", we loved it for 2 nights - no...

    Talkeetna is a tiny "town", we loved it for 2 nights - no action - peaceful. We took a zipline excursion one day and panned for gold the next - ate out each meal - came in on the train & left on the bus - not a lot of time to get bored, was with a large family group.

    The accommodation is lovely. An authentic log cabin look from the outside yet inside modern, spotless and extremely well equipped. The kitchen is excellent and there are nice touches like free Netflix and board games. There is a terrace too and ample car parking space. We were met by Greg an extremely helpful host who showed us around. This is an ideal place to stay when visiting Talkeetna.
