The general area was very depressed with very little businesses right by the hotel! The hotel itself was not a hotel I would ever stay at again. It was dirty and needed remodeling. Things were broken and the mattress was ancient. The carpeting had several black marks on it and it was hard sleeping in a Room that hadn’t been dusted for a long time! The chain restaurants in the area were very bad. I wish I went to more local spots but they weren't as easy to get to with kids. Frank Loyd Wright houses in the area are great and totally worth checking out. Fort Necessity is pretty cool to see. I definitely recommend watching the video at the visitor center as the fort isn't that thrilling without context. Two major problems.
Two major problems. When I first got there, the room rate was correct but I was informed that I had to pay a $200 security deposit. Nowhere was this ever mentioned prior to my checkin nor was there any indication of this on their website. Since it was too late to cancel, I had no choice but to accept this. The inside lock on the door to my room was no working. Didn't line up. Reported it in the morning but not sure if the person at the desk ever reported it or not. They really cared that we were there. Breakfast was well done and presented. The rooms and corridors were well maintained and clean. The location was also good for visits into the Allegheny Mountains, Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, Ohiopyle, Morgantown, The Summit Inn and Pittsburgh. My girlfriend and now fiance got engaged just a few miles down on the way down the mountain at the watering trough of fayette county!
