The house is clean, with neat white crispy linen. Space enough for 3 people. Suitable for self catering and they provide all necessary equipment. The hostess Terry was warm and welcoming. She accommodated our request for a late snack (sandwich). We enjoyed our overnight stay.

An absolutely fantastic place to stay in Barberton! Windsor Cottage was a true home away from home for the two weeks we stayed there to do geological fieldwork in the Barberton Makhonjwa Mountains. The kitchen is so well equipped that we managed to host a dinner party for 14 hungry geologists, the shower is always hot, and the garden with braai and vervet monkeys is a fabulous place to wind down after a long day. Desire and Saskia were incredibly helpful and very responsive, and were so flexible to arrange an extra bed so that we could stay there with 5 colleagues. A fence protects you from intruders - except for the cute cat 😺. I have stayed in several places in the Barberton area but Windsor Cottage is the one I will return to on a next visit. Highly recommended, whether you're a tourist or geologist.

What... a... gem. The owner is a delightful British lady who is so friendly and helpful. The view from the family chalet was stunning and the interior cosy and functional. Beautiful birds and the free roaming chickens visited us in the morning.

Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. The stucure of the guesthouse feels like a fortress but not in an intimidating way...it is very secure. The views of the town and surrounding area are wonderful given the guesthouse stands on high ground and the rooms are surrounded by second floor terraces.

We did not explore Barberton at great length.

We did not explore Barberton at great length. Our primary reason for visiting was to enjoy the Geo Trail, which we did over several hours on the morning that we were there. The Geo Trail is fascinating but sadly the information boards have weathered. Nevertheless it was an extremely interesting, enjoyable and very worthwhile drive.

Small Town with every basic shopping just to provide you what is needed for a familly. a lot off information to learn from the museum. there are various fast food restaurant and two shopping center enough to supply visitors with all they want. around CBD they are also few places to buy souvenirs of the town.

Our stay at Geo trial lodge was horrible, the owners Mark and Candice checked us inn late at 20:30 whereas we arrived at 15:00. They are racist, they shouted at us,gave us a wrong room. The microwave was not working, no tea, no small kitchen as their ads says, they woke us early at 09:00 saying we must check out. I will never go back to Barberton ever again and I wish black people could also save themselves the humiliation and their money for other places. Candice and Mark are Racist, period. I even told them that am going to rate them and Mark said he'll delete my rating

The town is suffering the decay common to most rural towns in South Africa. The town offers many attractions and tours for the traveler. Of particular interest is the Heritage tour of the museums and old buildings.

I was playing a Bowls Competition over the weekend and stayed over one night. Wouldn't recommend Barberton other than for a sporting event, hiking, golf or maybe visiting relatives or friends. No decent restaurants although there are maybe better options 20 minutes drive from town. Spectacular views of surrounding mountains.

Unfortunately we saw nothing except our accommodation as the roads are in such a bad state one does not dare to drive around. Really expected more from this town. Until the roads are repaired I would not recommend anyone visiting this town.
