The area we stayed in was absolutely filthy dirty . Disgusting actually. We were told it was because they couldn't get bin collectors or street cleaners. It was cleaner in other areas. We stayed near the station as we had to travel to Masteritch. We did enjoy a wonderful small canal dinner cruise and all the restaurants we ate at were fantastic. Thank you trip advisor. I love the city itself and the people .
I love the city itself and the people . My wife and I have said that we could live there . I would rent our place in Vancouver and move there for an indefinite period of time . The hotel D & T is so well situated and the transit system is so good at getting around . Earlier on , there was a question about what could be better and the only thing I can think of is how Uber & Cab drivers always seem to take advantage the visitors by driving them around the " LONG" way to ring up the tab ! It happens in other places as well but it does put a sour taste in one's mouth when that happens . I take the buses and trains when I am in Amsterdam but I have heard lots of people complain about that one reason . Even Amsterdam is very beutiful place to visit, unfortunately nowadays is super expensive, all the museums, hotels and business are overcrowded and with high rates..(some of them overrated). I’ve been to Amsterdam several times and really like the atmosphere of the city. I find it very walkable but there are many trams available if you’d rather use public transport. I like that the city isn’t overly crowded. I recommend taking a boat to appreciate the beautiful buildings. I really enjoyed the pizza at De Pizzabakkers. Brioche has fabulous croissants and brioche. Worth the tram ride from Centraal Station. Het Kleinste Huis has some delicious honey and loose tea to take home for yourself or as gifts.
