Modern and bright hotel. Ideally located to explore Funchal being close to the coastal path and regular buses. We were bed and breakfast but did go for some evening meals. The food was good in a buffet format. The room was big with a kitchenette behind some doors which we did not use. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning did its job although noisy on high. All in all we had a lovely time and would consider returning.

Considered one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal, charming Funchal is the capital of Madeira Island. It is an important base for tourists from all over the world that come to the Madeira hotels, B&B’s and resorts to enjoy their cliffs and beaches, as well as its slopes and colourful towns.
Founded in 1424, its position allowed it to quickly become an important trading harbour, attracting many prominent families. Its mild weather was the beginning of its touristic development in the 18th century, with a therapeutic and health profile.
With the establishment of the port first, and Madeira International/Funchal Airport later, the city grew to become a major destination. Nowadays, the city concentrates most of the hotels, luxury resorts and casinos of Madeira. Accommodation located in Santa Cruz, near Funchal Airport, is also available for those wanting to avoid the rush.
Don’t miss a long walk around Sé historical district, and enjoy the Santa Clara Convent and the Sé Cathedral. The Quinta do Palheiro Ferreiro Park and the Mercado dos Lavradores are also a must.

Tourist advice was plentiful and very well spoken staff.
Tourist advice was plentiful and very well spoken staff. Bus services on time and frequent. The majic dolphin boat for whale watching and free spirit for mountain hikes.
Red wine so low cost and great quality. Local pizza not so good go to Pizza hut on the seafront. Very freindly people and as an ageing human all young people were very polite on transport services.
Great atmosphere, good climate although a little humid at times but a very generous island that keeps on giving surpridse after surprise.

On the whole a clean city in which I felt safe.
On the whole a clean city in which I felt safe. The island is very hilly (mountainous) but the public transport (urban and interurban buses) provide a good service, as does the cable car (though this is priced more at the tourists than the locals).

The weather was perfect - not too hot but sunny - for getting out and about We stayed a week and went on a couple of trips out to the island.
Great places to eat and drink and plenty of history. Funchal felt a real thriving town with distinct culture compared to Canary Islands.

Madeira is a very beautiful island with its mountains, ocean...
Madeira is a very beautiful island with its mountains, ocean, flowers and very wonderful and helpful people. I would like to go back there and recommend visiting this island. Funchal is one of the most beautiful cities. I liked the food, the varied fruits, the kind people and of course the rum.
Hotel is new and very stylish, I would even prefer it to the neighbouring 5 star ones of the same hotel chain. Ocean suit has great ocean view even on a not high floor. Be careful if you travel not with a partner, as bathroom is not private. We definitely liked that the hotel has 2 swimming pools, one rooftop, with bar/cafe areas and possibility to order beer/milkshake to the pool, sun beds, towels, tents included. There is exit to ocean from one of the pools, but no sandy beech (Madeira actually has not many of them).
View from our room was outstanding - could see the Sea and all of Funchal. Staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent and tasty. Location is good for the older area of Funchal, however be prepared to walk up hill to get back from the centre of town (all of Funchal is either going up or down hills!).
Madeira are nice and strict on the COVID rules (masks, sanitiser and distancing), the hotel was an example of the rules being followed across the island and I felt safe there.
Prime location in Funchal from where you can walk around old town and to the sea front. The free gated parking is a massive bonus. Balcony with view to the square where you can find many options for breakfast. The area is nearby many restaurants as well. The flat in itself is big and comfy. Not having to share a key is great and everyone can come in and out as they please with a code. Kitchen had everything we needed, very well equipped. If I go back to Madeira will be staying here again.
The Babosas Village is the ideal place to stay if you want to see Madeira but you want to avoid the insanely touristic centre of Funchal. While a lot of tourists come up here during the day, at breakfast and dinner Babosas is an oasis of peace and relax. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and very patient with those who do not speak Portuguese. The rooms are comfortable and quiet, the breakfast is rich and changes every day. If I had to visit Funchal again, I would go back to Babosas.
Wonderful apartment, everything here is perfect for a visit of both Funchal and Madeira.
Super-practical, clean, the incredible terrace and finally its perfect location.
A short walk distance to everything the old Funchal has to offer and nice base-camp for a wider island exploration.
Finally the host is extremely welcoming and he is always there if you need anything or jif you just need a tip on where to go to drink the best poncha :)
5++ stars
Modern hotel in the heart of Funchal , walking distance to the main centre of old town, harbour and gardens , in particular to our rum festival
Great view from roof top bar of the harbour and Funchal hills and centre- even though the pool was on a small side . We did not mind …
Very helpful staff at reception
Excellent choices of breakfast and omelette station with a friendly chef
The bed was the most comfortable one I have stayed in a hotel too
The studio has a great balcony with amazing view on the old town of Funchal, a stylish bedroom with a comfortable double bed, and a kitchen equipped literally with everything, that can be possibly needed for a long pleasant stay in Madeira. All the equipment is of top quality. Michael personally introduced us to the studio, and on the departure day gave us a lift to the airport. It was a pity we could not stay longer. Very much recommended!
Room was very clean and super friendly staff. The hotel is located in the residential neighborhood by old town Funchal (10-15 mins walk). Beautiful garden that was well maintained and a breakfast patio that had a great view of the old town. Staff was very helpful and gave lots of good information about Madeira. Nikki and Sasha the chocolate labs in the back gardens were so friendly and cute. Def stay here.
Fantastic hotel/apartment house at the heart of Funchal. Everything is close (shops, restaurants, bars,..) free garage to park your car, amazing rooftop with pool and views, very helpful staff, excellent communication, always something above the expectation. If you plan to come to Madeira, you want to stay at Three house hotel!
The apt is bright, clean, comfortable and quiet. Lynn is one of the best people I have ever met. Went out of her way several times to help a severely jetlagged woman who lost her luggage and left behind her coats. Thanks again.Hope we meet again. You know I will always stay at your place if I am in Madeira again.
The location is great, near downtown Funchal with easy access to the highway. It has a great view of Funchal right down to the water with a nice little patio to enjoy that view. The owner was great at communicating and check in was easy. When I come back to Madeira I’ll stay here again.
The apartment has a good location in Funchal and it's very nice.
Close by there is a cenvenient public parking spot (4,50 EUR for 24h) and it is nice that you can use some of the services of the Hotel Madeira (which manages the apartment) that is very close (for example, the pool).
Wonderful time at Quinta B, very great welcome, the bedroom is perfect and the view with the breakfast amazing! I recommend this hotel for few days in Funchal, you will love it.
The localization is near to the old town which is great for the visits.
Lovely house with great outdoor space.
Location is quiet and fantastic being so close to the Old Town and Funchal centre .
Off street parking for those that hire a car
Would definitely check for availability when we return to Madeira. Paul and Sue
We had a great stay at the Next Hotel. They upgraded us to an ocean front room that was amazing. Great value for the price. location was great as well. 10 min walk to town and 3 min walk to a ton of restaurants. would stay again if in Madeira.
Location was perfect - all the main spots of Funchal within walking distance. Right in between Old Town and the City center - but still quiet around the Hotel. I especially liked the variety of fruit offered at breakfast.
Location is just perfect, in the middle of old town, very close to airport bus stop, few minutes walk from the Santa Maria street. Coffee was surprisingly better than in other bigger hotels in Madeira :)
