  • Hello, we would like to stay in your beautiful cottage 27th Jun - 2nd July. Currently it is just my wife and I but if circumstances change our daughter may be joining us. If we initially book for two people can we add the third later?

Thank you for your question, yes you can adjust your number of guests at a later date. Unfortunately we are not available for those dates at Railway.

This absolutely charming Heritage Award Winning weatherboard cottage was built circa 1900's and has been fully renovated/extended into a character filled retreat. The cottage is nestled in a sleepy, picturesque street lined from end to end with charming railway cottages. Overflowing with quaint features such as, timber floors, dado boards, pressed tin walls and a décor enhanced by a colour scheme of soft tones with crisp white hues, which all combine to create an enchanting atmosphere. Original old time objects & furniture scattered throughout bring a comfortable homely feel. Railway Cottage consists of 2 cosy bedrooms, one with a queen bed and a second with a queen bed. A single foldout bed is available on request. A fully equipped brand new kitchen, should satisfy even the most discerning cook. A split system heating & cooling system, electric blankets and full insulation will ensure complete comfort. ***If we are booked for your dates please view our beautiful Bluebird Cottage.

My husband Peter, and I, are mad (some may say insane) renovators. We originally began our renovating frenzy in our early twenties in rural Western Australia, and after carrying this dream throughout Australia, we found ourselves in Bunbury in 2008. Our first project was a derelict heritage railway cottage in Ednie Street, our current home. It may have been difficult to see the potential in this neglected house, but after pulling it almost completely apart and putting it back together, piece by piece, it became our beautiful home. We have since carried out the same process on our beautiful Bluebird Cottage, and have just completed the same works on our Railway Cottage. Our passion for restoring these beautiful heritage properties to their former state of grandeur, continues to grow, and will likely never change. When we aren't buried under mountains of rubble or cavorting in amongst roof cavities, we enjoy taking the delightful short stroll into the Bunbury centre for dinner, a coffee, or a glass of red wine. Bunbury has a plethora of food options and we enjoy eating out regularly.

Take a step back in time to this unique heritage precinct in a quiet corner of Bunbury. Close to the city centre, this area is crammed with a variety of heritage homes, which have been restored, in keeping with their original facades. Embrace the nostalgia of times gone by as you drive or wander through the peaceful streets. Bunbury has so much to offer. Go for a tour with the Dolphin Discovery Centre and meet some of the local friendly dolphins! Also our Port inspired playground with two huge replica steam ship chimneys to climb on with slides at Koombana Bay which is renowned for its beautiful calm waters. You can also climb the Bunbury Tower which has exceptional 360 degree views of Bunbury. The railway cottage is only a short stroll to the centre of Bunbury, which boasts a range of shopping centres, restaurants, pubs, cinema, the estuary, and the Dolphin Discovery Centre. The renowned Margaret River region is only an hours drive south from Bunbury, making the bluebird cottage an excellent base for a day trip, if you so desire.
