Only stayed here one night and was very pleased. Really nice staff and check-in, location is fine (though downtown Darwin isn't too big), the room was clean with a nice kitchenette and everything was perfectly quiet during the stay. I was given an upgraded room with a balcony overlooking the pool, nice place for a simple breakfast and coffee. Things aren't too cheap in Darwin and this was a comparative value. If I'm ever in Darwin again this will be my choice.

FAQs about hotels in Darwin

Australia's Cyclonic Cocktail

Darwin displays a cocktail of cultures from ‘Aussie larrikins’ to the local Aboriginals from Larrakia Country. Throw in an influx of international visitors who now call the Top End of Australia home, and this concoction bedazzles with busy outdoor markets and an adequate supply of drinking holes (pubs).

The modern Darwin Wharf precinct, including Stokes Hill Wharf, still gleams on those endless summer days having been rebuilt after the destruction caused both during World War II bombings and Cyclone Tracey. Grab a bar stool with a view of the harbour or a seat on a terrace and sip a cool drink in Australia’s northernmost, tropical capital city.

A popular time for tourists is Darwin’s dry season that starts in May and ends in October. If you prefer it hot and humid, then the end of the wet season can be spectacular when the waterfalls in Kakadu and Litchfield national parks are at their mightiest.

Australia’s wild frontier can be reached all the way from Adelaide and Alice Springs along the picturesque Stuart Highway that ends at Daly Street in the CBD. Outside the centre are the natural surrounds in Palmerston, Humpty Doo and closer by is Mindil Beach with its famous Sunset Market.

Darwin International Airport has international flights from Singapore and Bali. You can choose from a variety of hotels, hostels and apartments on Booking.com.

Darwin is a wonderful holiday destination in the dry season!

Darwin is a wonderful holiday destination in the dry season! It is warm, sunny and casual.. There is never any needed to dress too formally, no matter where you go. Darwin Museum has interesting Cylone Tracey exhibits,. The War Memorial Museum has great interactive displays of the Bombing of Darwin. Markets are amazing, including Mindil, Parap and Rapids Creek. Sail Darwin's Champagne Cruise is always fabulous as is the Wetlands Cruise at Coroboree Creek. Watching the sunset and eating great local food at the Sailing, Trailer Boat or Ski Clubs are not to be missed either! Go Darwin - it's one of the best getaways you'll have!

Darwin seems like a decent spot during peak tourist season, but this year it just didn’t take off. It felt like a ghost town. Everything closes really early, there’s not much going on except for the backpacker crowd, and public transport is quite poor. On the positive side, the sunsets at the beach are absolutely beautiful, and the crocodile experience on the Adelaide River is truly a must-do.

Darwin is an easy place to enjoy, you do not have to travel too far to understand the culture and the hidden places to enjoy. The people are always ready to tell you more stories of Darwin. The history and the culture present a picture that is worth the journey.

This is the first time we have been to Darwin and we have stayed at 4 different motels all of which were great. Darwin was much bigger than we expected and we were pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Our stay in Darwin was for 3 weeks and was a lovely break from our normal travel in our new Toyota Hiace Camper Van. We have been to as many tourist destinations as we could plus more. The guided tour of Parliament House was simply outstanding! Thoroughly recommended for any prospective traveller / visitor. In my opinion Darwin needs to be promoted far better in the southern states. We are currently travelling around Australia from Central Victoria. We love Darwin!

I am not a fan of hot weather however, during my visit, the humidity was not high and the temperature, while hot, was not unbearable. Darwin is a lovely small city (which I love) and the people are friendly.

The location. Airport & Darwin city only 10 minutes away. Resort was safe, with key access to gated Carpark. Comfortable, very clean, apartment. Nice big balcony, with good outlook to parkland. Enjoyed the Parap Saturday market vibes, just a few steps away from the complex. Good cafes, great local crafts, nice small shops to browse.

Accomodation in Darwin is very expensive, Alatai apartments were a bit cheaper and affordable. We had a self contained studio which was adequate for our needs. The pool area was nice to sit in but could do with more recliners ( I think there were five). The bed was comfy. The staff were very obliging if we wanted extra towels etc.

The rooms are spacious and clean and the location is superb. Only a short stroll to the city centre and the Darwin Waterfront. It’s certainly not the cheapest accommodation in Darwin but you are definitely getting what you pay for, and that is excellence.
