Super friendly owners, great location behind the newly renovated pub (but not noisy!) Good location right in town.
Quaint little businesses in the town and friendly people.
Quaint little businesses in the town and friendly people. We had a very negative experience with one boutique shopkeepers' quarters accommodation. which had such potential but didn't see through and especially for the price however the town was gorgeous and everyone else was so friendly and accommodating. We have family living nearby and will come back to this gorgeous little town.
The "Stone Fruit" bar has exceptional coffee, the florist was lovely and arty, and the clothes choices were fantastic! Lots of little quaint coffee places dotted up the street. The Peter Allen motel was old (loved the kitsch orange floor tiles in the bathroom) very clean, central, friendly and just all-round welcoming.

I grew up just down the highway from Tenterfield and was very pleasantly surprised when I visited it again for the first time in 40 years, for a wedding.
The Northern Tablelands of NSW is a beautiful area and Tenterfield now has a great place to stay in the Commercial Boutique Hotel; really good cafes for breakfast or lunch (Badmanners Cafe, Courtyard Cafe); and several restaurants and pubs (Colonial Hotel) for an enjoyable evening meal.
Lots to see in the area or further up or down the New England Highway.

We did not get to the accommodation because of the fires at Tenterfield but that was no fault of the owner who was very helpful to me when I explained our situation. I hope to stay there at a later date when the bush fires settle down and would like to have the money I have paid in abeyance until we can arrange another day to attend

The Town is as dead as a Dodo, but when I was last here 30 years ago, it was then too. One can safely fire a cannon down the road at 7 p.m. and as for finding a meal, there were very limited choices. The next town up the road in Qld, Stanthorpe, is humming!

We only had one day so drove the Mackenzie Mountain tourist route#9 to see the granite rocks and they were amazing. Then drove to Boonoo Boonoo National Park where the walks are quite short to the falls (sadly very little water due to drought conditions but still worth going) The rock pools were beautiful despite low water.
We enjoyed our walk along the main street and visited the Tenterfield Traveller shop.
Lots of great dining options.
There's a skate park which looks brand new and lovely walks through the parklands along Tenterfield Creek

Be aware the weather in Tenterfield high up in the mountain is cold in the morning, even in September. But warm up later in the day. People in Town are friendly and helpful. The scenery is extraordinary has beautiful falls and the largest granite rock in Australia after Uluṟu.At one stage Parkes wanted to make it the Capital!.
Sharon is the big seller of this property. They are trying to build up a reputation and the room showed this. The renovations to the Hotel will be amazing and will make a difference. The rooms are an old style but they have done them up and they are really well done and comfortable. Lots of little extras in the room and Sharon is happy to go the extra mile to help out! Would definitely stay again. And Sharon gave us her homemade Anzac biscuits!
The price and location were excellent, the ambience was old world and very different from a cheap motel room. I understand that when the restaurant is operating its good value but was closed for the duration of our 4 day stay. Perhaps the best description was provided by a group of four older ladies who were having fun in the top floor lounge area when they said they were having a "Best Exotic Marigold Hotel Experience "
I stayed for a 0700 meeting in Tenterfield so I wouldn't have to run up the hill at 0400. This is only the second time I've stayed in Tenterfield since 2019 and is still one of my favourite places to visit.
The motel staff were very friendly, the bed was comfortable. The heating was great and warmed up the room very quickly. I will be staying here again if I need to visit Tenterfield overnight again.
It is a beautiful old place with lots of interesting memorabilia and info about its history. Great view over Tenterfield. It was great to have a refrigerator/freezer to put things in and also appreciated the sitting room upstairs with the coffee/tea making facilities plus toaster and microwave. Very thoughtful for tourists. Thank you.
Our second stay, and absolutely love the cottage. Very comfortable, walking distance to shops, eateries and Coles. Love the history of the cottage and how the it has been decorated with quirky bits and pieces. Breakfast items supplied which is a nice surprise. Looking forward to returning again asap. Love Tenterfield.
Lovely huge room (Deluxe Double)....very quiet.....amazing mountain view from the huge picture windows....friendly and welcoming country hospitality from Margie and Steve....great shower, comfy bed, big TV...close to lovely walks and good distance to walk to town centre....I highly recommend Tenterfield Motor Inn.
Excellent comfortable beds, excellent location near all the central locations in Tenterfield you could easily walk to. Our hosts were very friendly and assisted us with a special request. The room we were in looked like it was freshly renovated and it was a very comfortable and relaxing stay.
A true gem. Very comfortable and tastefully renovated motel units. Clean and quite.
The old hotel building offers great food and beverage with true character exposed as part of the historically authentic renovation.
Worth a visit just for itself.
For the price, it is good value. Clean little cabin. Amenities were relatively clean. Camp kitchen was great and communal fire pit was nice. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Well positioned in Tenterfield - good for exploring the area.
The accomodation was very quaint and just what we wanted for a getaway. It was private and quiet, yet super close (short walk) to everything you would need. Great restaurants and cafes nearby. Lovely authentic bathtub!
Excellent location, walking distance to many of Tenterfield's historical buildings and eating venues. Really interesting old house with pot belly fireplace and outdoors fire pit. Nice garden. Very functional kitchen.
Perfect location, warm and welcoming this was a wonderful start to our Tenterfield adventures. Loved the big bath and comfy beds. Easy to access and a stroll to the pub - what more could you want. We will book again.
The room was clean and comfortable and no noise problems. Even though the highway is nearby it did not trouble us at all.
The bed was ample in size and very comfortable. The parking was easy to navigate
Cute cottage with loads of history. Right in the middle of town an a short walk to cafes and pubs and lovely bonus of breakfast items (eggs tomatoes and toast milk and tea).
