The location was awesome but the place already old need extra attention to renovate
Fantastic facilities in our chalet!
Very clean and comfortable with excellent kitchen and bathroom facilities including shower gel, soap and shampoo in refillable dispensers. Plenty of hot water too.
There was a comfortable seating area and we could have stayed much longer had we not been on a road trip.
The site was very quiet at night so great for those camping.

Kalbarri is a great place to relax, swim in the river or ocean and explore breathtaking coastal and inland rock formations and gorges. Fantastic walks and longer hikes for those so inclined. Awesome tourist facilities in the National Parks - the Skywalk is an amazing piece of engineering and a must do experience. Great fishing, surfing and snorkeling. Beautiful clean, safe swimming beaches. Brilliant Indian Ocean sunsets. Great variety of playgrounds and park areas for the kids. Plenty of choice for eating out and a bit of night life. Good accommodation options. The local supermarket provides most of what you need if eating at home.
Get the Aussie inland gorge and coastal beach experience all rolled into one!
*Note to those travelers not experienced with Australian outback conditions: Kalbarri can get pretty hot and the flies can be annoying at certain times of the year (so pack fly nets), but if you come prepared and do a little homework prior you will have a great experience. Overall one of our favorite places in WA.

Another beautiful part of our amazing state!
Another beautiful part of our amazing state!
Nature's window was as lovely as when I visited 17 years ago. The Skywalk is a fabulous addition, especially for visitors with some disabilities. I work in the health sector and am constantly looking out for places with access. What little we experiences augers well. Please keep this up.
Sunset at Meanara Hill was just stunning. Rainbow Valley and Mushroom Walk were relaxing and wonderful.
Thank you for the wonderful memories, Kalbarri!

Stunning location.
Stunning location. Kalbarri is located at the mouth of the Murchinson river with turquoise water and great facilities. Finlay’s brewery and restaurant was recommended by our host Jess and was excellent and atmospheric. Great selection of beers and excellent food. Lots to see and enjoy. The Kalbarri NP had an amazing skywalk looking out over a spectacular gorge. Sadly the river cruise was not operating.

Beautiful beaches with choice of ocean or river dips in the water. Wilder waves also available for surfers. The one grocery store carries fair but limited goods - you can't be too fussy but basics are available. If you have special requirements - bring it with you! Pubs and eateries are OK, Kalbarri is on the mend from the cyclone in 2021. The national park, pelican feeding, sunset cruise, boat hire and fishing trips will keep you busy for a few days and it's perfect for relaxation and that 'wait awhile' WA feeling! And the sunsets are next to none...

Kalbarri is most certainly worth a stay.
Kalbarri is most certainly worth a stay. The coastline is breathtakingly beautiful, with some lovely beaches, it offers great hiking opportunities, just make sure you choose the right time of the year for that. It can be very hot! Some nice restaurants to enjoy fresh caught fish.
The hotel is close to everywhere, shops, restaurants and beach. Room is clean and sizable for the 2 of us. Bed is comfortable, you need a good bed to rest after a long day driving, trekking and sightseeing.
The owner Ann is nice and welcoming, it was our 1st trip to Kalbarri and she gave lots of local information of must do in Kalbarri.
On checking out we left our phone charger behind in the room and she was kind enough to send it back to us without charge. Thank you very much Ann :)
Absolutely stunning property. The suites are huge - beautifully furnished and equipped. Jess and Jeff are the nicest hosts - extremely friendly and very helpful and informative. The accommodation is private and peaceful - we loved the evenings spent star gazing with a glass of wine! There is so much eclectic and quirky artwork to explore around the gardens too. We highly recommend River Retreats Kalbarri and can't wait to return. Thank you Jess and Jeff for a splendid stay!
This complex has a 25m lap pool. There is nowhere in this town to exercise other than walking so for a regular active person this was a welcome addition.
There is signage up that says a gym is coming in ‘23. If it does finally get finished I’ll book here every time I come to Kalbarri for work.
Unit very comfortable and clean.
Pool and bbq area excellent.
Very friendly, knowledgeable staff that provided us information on what to do in Kalbarri and the surrounding area. The room was very clean with all available amenities. We would highly recommend this to friends and family as the information provided in Bookings.Com was exactly how it was. Thank you to the owners and staff for a pleasant stay.
From our warm greeting to our departure Sha demonstrated and eagerness to help us and promote the various activities around Kalbarri even though she is only new to Kalbarri herself. Her home-made bread and muffins were a great personal touch. Sha's attention to detail and addition of the "the little things" make Gecko Lodge a memorable place.
Location excellent parking car outside door of accomodation. beds comfey. contactless entry good. close to shops and cafes. easy to find the hotel it is on the main road in. Missed the pelicans being fed due to needing to leave earlie the two mornings we were there. Missed no pool at facilities which I got mixed up thinking there was one
We had a trip where we had stayed at 10 different hotels/apartments and this was the best by a long shot!!
Apartment was amazing, I could live here, had everything you could possibly need. We had a fab view of the water which was great over and evening beer.
This location has everything
It's a hidden gem!!! The host Leticia and Randal are lovely and really helpful! The property just like brand new. Also you have your back yard with a swim poor provide. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely come back next time to Kalbarri!
The accommodation was excellent, the position was great , just a short walk to the beach.
The view from the cabin when the sun was going down excellent.
Would recommend to anyone this is the place to stay in Kalbarri.
The room was clean and comfortable. The mini kitchen was handy. The shower had good temperature and volume. Located in town. Close to Kalbarri National park. Restaurant was convenient and food was good
The kangaroos are hoping around. The food in Buddha bites is very delicious, we only eat the food in the hotel for two days no regrets.
Compliments to the chief.
