Bairnsdale is a large country town.

Bairnsdale is a large country town. The Catholic Church as you you enter from the Melbourne side on the left is definitely worth a visit. A volunteer is available and has a wealth of information in relation to the church and history of the area. Not to be missed. There are plenty of shops, the Potted Pear, gift wares, is great. There are museums, historical and Aboriginal. Bairnsdale is a lovely place for a day visit.

Typical Australian town which is busy during the day and completely dead at night. Felt quite safe to walk around early evening but can't comment on late evening. All usual shops available. We ate at the Cow & Fish Pub which was excellent for food but lacked soft furnishings in the dining area. Felt it was a bit like a social club rather than a hotel/restaurant. Very convenient for us as travelling down to Paynesville and Lakes Entrance which is only a 25 minute drive away. Also played golf at Metung Country Club which was excellent including lunch at the club house.

Our stay was way too short.

Our stay was way too short. Bairnsdale allows you the perfect location to explore the region. You have to try the Thai restaurant Cinnamon, it was amazing and the flavours are on point. We ventured to Metung and Lakes Entrance and could have easily done multiple days at both locations.

Apple Maps was confused/confusing about cemetery location. Not fun on foot! Luckily the locals were super kind. Info centre: friendly and knowledgeable Beautiful Catholic Church. Pleasant library. Nice CBD to walk around - houses, trees Loved my walk by the river and seeing the bats!

RSL served us the wrong order steak that was boot leather.

RSL served us the wrong order steak that was boot leather. surrounding cafes served overpriced meals. A lot of foot traffic around left us not leaving doors unlocked. We used it as a destination for the hotel. And that is where it ended. however we only stayed one night.

The Bairnsdale Motel was excellent - clean, comfy, relaxing and well appointed. There was everything we needed in the King Spa room and the bed was really comfortable. The room was spacious and very clean, the bathroom was large and easy to use (room to put toiletries, shaving kit, etc.) and the minibar well stocked. There was breakfast available and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Good location at the start of Bairnsdale. Comfortable king-size bed with good quality bedding. The shower was good, with lots of hot water. Had a small kitchenette with crockery, cutlery, microwave, toaster, and jug. Good lighting in the room. The motel was well maintained even though it was older style building. It's not very noisy even though on the main road.

The manager was friendly, helpful, and obliging. The Motel was quiet, despite being central to the main town of Bairnsdale. The Motel is old, but relatively clean and all facilities were in working order. The fridge and freezer in particular, was perfect. The bed was firm and comfortable. I felt safe and secure in the motel room I stayed in.

The garden cottage has everything to make you feel comfortable home away from home. About 15 min walk into the town centre so you can leave the car at home. For travellers the ability to wash your clothes and dry easily is great. Bairnsdale is a good place to make as a base to visit Paynesville/ Raymond Island and Lakes Entrance.

The facilities felt fresh and up-to-date - the room was clean, spacious and bright. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the owner was lovely. I recommend the hotel restaurant, too. There didn't seem to be many restaurants within walking distance, so my friend and I had breakfast there each morning and really enjoyed it.

Breakfast is not provided at the Hotel, but it is located a very short walk to a selection of quality cafes that provide great breakfast options. We travelled to the Hotel from Melbourne by train, and the Hotel is only a short walk from the Bairnsdale train station, so it was very convenient, indeed!

I've stayed here before and whilst it's not fancy per se, it is very comfortable, very clean and well positioned - particularly for the price as Bairnsdale is never that cheap. Bonus, the shower was very good (good water pressure). I would definitely stay again with all these factors.

Nothing. The staff member at the office was incredibly inappropriately rude asking me why I was making a booking if I live in Bairnsdale. People don’t just book accommodation for work although I am only working here, I still would like to see family.
