10/10 hotel with a stunning view to Eiger. We stayed here for two days, and were so good taken care of by the friendly owners of this beautiful hotel. We got the best hiking tips for mountain parts that are not so crowded, and will forever remember the spectacular nature and views. I can highly recommend a stay at Hotel Caprice.

Alpine Resort and Large Glaciers

Grindelwald lies at more than 1000 metres above sea level, offering top-class ski slopes and an imposing Alpine landscape. It is located in the canton of Bern, in the Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Aletsch is the largest glacier to be found in the Alps.

Although evidence shows humans have been present in the region for thousands of years, the first long-lasting settlements date back to the Middle Age. For a long period, the destiny of the village was attached to the influence of the Interlaken Abbey, until the times of the Protestant Reformation.

Tourist activity begun in the 18th century, bringing new life and wealth to the village. During the second half of the 19th century, roads and railway lines were developed, allowing a constant influx of visitors.     We visited a LOT of places in the Jungfrau region and while we loved Murren and Wengen, we decided that we definitely chose the best base in Grindelwald. It has such good transport links - great options for walks, activities and mountains that you could spend a week here and not need to go further than Terminal to catch a cable car to somewhere spectacular.

    A small cute town located in the mountain area with a great view of the mountains and closer to the cable rides to take to go to the mountain top. All shops coops stores pharmacy closes by 8pm. Not much options for food delivery. A very silent town with no pubs or bars with music.

    Grindelwald is very busy, including a lot of tour groups, which detracts somewhat from its lovely location. We prefer Wengen or Murren, which are car free and a lot quieter. Once up into the mountains though the scenery is spectacular.

    Grindelwald is an incredibly beautiful place with huge mountains, green trees and grass, and beautiful homes. It is a steep town. It forms a V between sets of mountains. There are many choices of ways to view the mountains: gondola, train, and of course walking. You can use a variety to see what you want depending on how much exercise you want, keeping aware of the quick changes in altitude.

    Grindelwald is the best base for day hikes in this breathtaking area. There is an endless number of top notch hikes. The village have all you need - a lot of transportation to the mountains and the to near by villages, accommodations of all types, shopping (well Swiss prices...), Restaurants (well... Swiss generousity) and services. We've been in past vacations in other villages in this region, and Grindelwald is by far the best one to stay.

    Location was ideal as, just a short walk from the Grindelwald Station and across from the bus station.The hotel serves an excellent breakfast with fresh produce and a choice of continental or hot cooked options.Our room was deluxe with magnificent balcony view across to the Eiger and round to Maanlichen. The hotel is right next door to an excellent ski rental and sales shop and a short walk from other hotels and cafes where lunches and evening meals can be purchased.

    This hotel is under another 5 star hotel Bergwelt Grindelwald. Get to enjoy their facilities included the breakfast buffet every morning. The breakfast selection is remarkable and delicious. The swimming pool and steam bath is another highlight too. The room in hotel pinte is new and clean. Nothing to complain about. The staff also very friendly and try to help as they can. Told them it was our honeymoon trip. They even prepare some sweets for us. So sweet!

    Loved this hotel. The view from our room was perfect and we were able to have secure garage parking for the motorbike. Breakfast was lovely - choice of foods and coffee was good! Everything seemed clean and well maintained. Shower was good and bed was comfy. Good wifi. Location was ideal for town. We will return to Grindelwald at some point and will stay here again.
