Nicosia's old town is fascinating and safe to walk around day and night.
Nicosia also has an excellent cheap bus service.
Locals are friendly and helpful if you need directions. Many Cypriots speak English.
And of course the Greek Cypriot food is delicious and reasonably priced.

Besides, almost always great weather, very nice people, and delicious food, 1 - to 2 days in Nicosia is enough to walk around and check out the sightseeing. I recommend passing through the border to the Turkish side and shopping a bit in the Turkish Bazar (the ladies will like POSH Handbags & Shoes shop) and eating at the local restaurants. Have a Turkish coffee.

Nicosia is a very unique and historic City.
Nicosia is a very unique and historic City. Famously it is still a divided city and it is possible to visit Northern Nicosia which is under Turkish Occupation since the 1970s.
There are many very interesting and fairly unique sites to visit on both sides of the border.
Nicosia is both a very modern city and has also a very old and picturesque sector. The fact that it has a patrolled border, the Green Line, running through it makes it a very memorable experience.
There are many restaurants and tavernas of variable quality in the town. Sadly there are way too many fast food outlets, but there are also some traditional tavernas serving fresh local delicacies.
However my main criticism would be, as a vegan, I found it very difficult to find places that catered for me.

The southern city center is very small--you can easily walk from end to end multiple times in a day of sightseeing--but it is a pleasant mix of developed tourist streets, colorful quaint residential streets, abandoned buildings and weird more or less closed shops with display windows full of junk. The center is worth a day. A second day is best spent on the Turkish side or in nature at the city outskirts.

I loved and always visit Nicosia both myself and my wife visited 2 or 3 times per year I love the weather and the kind people , lots of attraction and lots of restaurants with fine food , fantastic place especially in December time , Nicola is easy to move around
Great location litterally next to Ledra Street.and Elefteria square. the hotel was charming a mix of old and new ..liked the hallway leading to the dining area as filled with antiques from cyprus and the dining room itself was good and had a smokers area in a additional sun room .. which kept my husband happy. The breakfast buffet was great and you can order a cooked breakfast.
Hotel prices have jumped in Cyprus, so this was a good option. Flat is within walking distance of Old City, there are good public transport options nearby, ie intercity buses on Makarios street bus stop and local buses from Kennedy and other nearby bus stops. George is a good host. Two good supermarkets nearby, lots of food and restaurant options nearby.
Staff was great and very accommodating. Hotel itself has an interesting design. A lot of older/rustic influences, which I guess works for most people, I wasn't a fan. There is a balcony, which is cool. Location was perfect for getting to the office. Breakfast was fine, nothing bad - nothing special.
The room was spacious and well organised & decorated. The beds (both ours and our child's) were quite comfortable. The breakfast was simple but good. Finally, the air conditioning was not directed to the bed unlike other hotels we stayed in Cyprus. This is a big advantage when travelling with kids.
Room was lovely, comfortable bed and nice lighting and decor. Food and drinks from the lounge restaurant/bar were lovely. The location was excellent. The electric scooters beside the hotel were handy. Close to shops and restaurants and a short walk to Eleftheria Square and city centre.
The Castelli Hotel is handy for Nicosia town center, within a few minutes walk of the main Ledra Street & town area & the bus station, covering the Intercity service & local areas. The room was clean & the breakfast was very good. There is also private parking at the hotel.
Second time we stayed at Map. Hotel is new and modern. Staff are very pleasant and attentive. Breakfasts, which was included in the price, among the best we ever had. Stayed in a great room (503), which made our stay even more memorable. The restaurant is a MUST!
Had a fabulous stay at the newly opened the Sental Boutique Hotel! The cleanliness was impeccable, and the location was superb. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the decoration was stylish and inviting. Highly recommend for a cozy and relaxing stay!
The bedroom was on the small size but perfectly OK for a short stay, the hotel was very clean and the breakfast food and service was good. Location was excellent close to the bus station and main shopping area and crossing points to North Cyprus
Everything....It was my second stay at the 3 Room Boutique hotel but the first one when I met the super friendly and helpful owner, Anastasia....this is a great place to stay at the heart of the old city of Nicosia.
The hotel was in a quiet street in the old town & very close to Ledra St & the border crossing with Turkish Cyprus. It was also walking distance from the Intercity Bus station. The owner was friendly & helpful
After this my first short visit to Cyprus, it is simply impossible not to come back to this wonderful country and to the Asty Hotel. I've there constantly helped by friendly, professional and clever people.
The hostel is situated in a very quiet and interesting area at the border with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, you can see a football field from the terrace where kids play football in the morning.
My host, Andy, was great. He is very easy going. For example, he organized and paid for a small New Year’s dinner for the five guests and himself. I will definitely contact him next time I come to Cyprus.
The staff was really exceptional, great service and comfortable room with an artistic touch. Amazing location. It’s my second time stay at this hotel and I am always happy to be here again.
Quiet hotel, warm showers, lively common terrace accesible from each room, charging point and individual light for each bed. Smooth check-in and Check-out. Free Cyprus coffee.
