Great historical place located in the extraordinary beautiful lake of Bodensee. Historical reminiscenses related to the Bohemian past - related to priests John Hus nad Hieronymus from Prague, both sentenced to cruel death because of their Christian faith.

Konstanz is a fabulous place to visit.
Konstanz is a fabulous place to visit. Ferries seem to be crossing the lake even in winter, there are thermal baths (Thermen) with views of the foothills of the Alps, the old town is beautiful, and you can walk along the lakefront. Snowy times must be beautiful here - I've see fabulous pictures of this (and the Christmas market has been recommended to me). Just before Lent there is the fantastic Fastnacht festival, which is a wonderful family occasion, including the Saturday morning children's parade (and gathering on the Markstatte), which is less crowded than the Sunday one (one tip for the larger Sunday event is to walk to the start of the parade area where it is less crowded and where little ones can see better). In summer there is swimming in the lake, a large open-air swimming pool with slides, right beside the thermal baths, the floral peninsula of Mainau, the wonderful Reichenau pensinsula with its monastery and walks, and trips to local sights by train and ferry. Cycling is easy, and there are city bikes (and in February 2024 also scooters).

I love Konstanz.
I love Konstanz. It is quiet and peaceful walking along the waterfront. If you are a cyclist or a runner, there are tracks around the water. You can also get the ferry to Friedrichshafen.
The old town is very quaint and has lots of nice restaurants and bars. It is also pretty good for shopping and has a very good Zalando outlet.
The modern part of the town, the other side of the river has a street of big hotels that are decent, but the area is not pretty at all (nothing like the old town). You can walk around 3kms to reach the old town or your hotel will give you vouchers for free buses.

We chose Konstanz because it has a Christmas market and to be a base for a certain amount of travelling around. The market (which runs daily) was large and lively, drawing crowds from all around . The city repays wandering round, with a good range of historic buildings and shops large and small. During Advent, some events - notably concerts - appear to be mostly confined to weekends, but there is a good multiscreen cinema. It was easy to take the ferry to the wonderfully atmospheric castle at Meersburg or the train down into Switzerland to visit the UNESCO world heritage library at St Gallen (ask at the station how to get the cheapest travel deal).

Our main attraction was the gardens on Insel Mainau: superb but go early in the day. Kontanz itself offers a large pederstrian zone in the Old City. The many fine buildings from 1870 to the First World War testify to a prosperous past. We saw no very modern buildings due to war dammage, which gives the Old City a cachet in comparison to othe German cities. We arrived by ferry, which was very special. The area abounds with fruit trees and vineyards. We found the local white wines very refreshing.
The hotel is located in the historic building, which was built for housing military staff. The room is clean, big, with high ceiling, large windows, bathroom (shower), and kitchenette. The location is good, ~20 min on foot to the city centre. There is a train station, bus station, and a shopping mall ~5-7 min on foot. The location is quiet, off the main tourist paths.
For some reason we had breakfirst together with ibis styles for four days. Very good buffet and nothing to wish for.
It took just 10min by foot to reach the building where the training took place.
I liked the walk-in-shower. Even a very nice shampoo was available. That part of the room has been disigned very well.
Location was ok, just a short ride on the bus (free with guest card) into Konstanz city. Room a bit small but clean and comfortable. Nice old-ish hotel. Functional but we would probably chose another hotel if we are in Konstanz again. Useful for us as it was on our Bodensee circular cycle tour route.
Nothing. This is a con. Most unhelpful staff did not honour the booking. Made us pay extra and made the breakfast compulsory, although we knew we wouldn't have it. Avoid at all cost. I complained both during the stay and after. Both the hotel itself, Booking.com and accor provided no response.
Super.. i recommend this apartment it was near the train station, lake and city center.. The room is very nice and clean.. surprisingly the linen, pillow and bed are very comfortable, clean and smell nice.. its like a small Home.. you will have your own privacy
The location is very convenient. Even though there is a busy road, the windows are soundproof. The breakfast is tasty, and the staff is considerate. Newly upgraded interior of the rooms. Very nice to get tourist bus cards and maps from the hotel.
The location is excellent, literally across the street from the main train station in Konstanz. Hotel staff were all friendly. We were able to leave our bags at the reception after we checked out very easily. Our room was huge.
Wonderful place to stay for families. Breakfast is wonderful and staff is so friendly. It’s possible to reach city center with public transportation easily, and hotel gives you a public transportation card as long as you stay.
We had a warm welcome following a long drive and were lucky to have a parking spot. The hotel is in a great location and was clean and bright, Ruth spacious rooms. The breakfast was excellent with friendly service.
Great staff can make a great hotel and these guys sure dine that. Could not be more helpful.
Location was great with a lively bar under the rooms but when you go up to your room there is no noise from downstairs.
The hotel is very charming! We especially loved having cocktails in the upstairs lounge. The included breakfast each day was amazing! One employee, Acrum, stood out for being especially friendly and kind.
The hotel was nice. Room was big and the bed was very comfortable. Everything looked very clean. Is a perfect place for a 1 night stay. There is an aldis in front of the hotel, so that's a plus.
I really like the classical look of the building, but dont let the outside look fool you the interrior of the hotel is very modern and new. My room was clean and I felt like home.
Friendly & helpful staff, only 10 minutes walk to central areas, lots of bars & restaurants nearby, free bus pass included with stay at hotel. Decent breakfast.
Considering that it isn't cheap to stay in Kontanz, this hotel offers a great value proposal and has a good location. The breakfast was excellent. Good AC.
